Where do I get the best pizza?

Thanks, what do you think of their pizzas? Are they as goo as I remember?

Douglasdale is OK - yet to have a bad pizza there. but I haven't tried the others. The Brightwater place does breakfast as well But they are pricey (well, not too pricey considering other places but still).

The est pizza is made using the freshest ingredients, at home on a word-fired oven,

Panaroties have stopped putting lots of pizza base on their pizzas, for me 60-70% the base makes or breaks the pizza. Tried scooters, not really that great, tried Debonayz, average pizza but cheese griller cramped crust is fantastic.

So Where do I get the best pizza?

Try these 3 pizza joints :
Satori in Linden
Trabella in Illovo
Stella Luna Cornuti in Parkhurst

I have no clue how to.

How do you even make the dough and base ?

Buy bread dough at PnP, Spar or Checkers. Roll out, put in pan, use favorite sauce for base. 1Kg of bacon and further your own favorite cheeses and meat.

You get a nice spice that will give it a lekka smoky taste. Then of course, some of the Uncle MortyMoose's Draughts to ready the taste buds while cooking.

Unless you have a wood burning pizza oven at home, you just cannot get that wood-fired taste. You can try those stones and electric pizza ovens, but it doesn't compare.

Make it in a weber with wood barrel shavings. It is plenty smoky.

1st choice is Ottimo's (kensington/Bruma area) 2nd Allora

P.S. col'cacchio for gluten free pizza/pasta is also good

We made our bases the other night and it was ridiculously simple - probably because we let the bread machine handle the actual kneading. :D

FWIW the bread dough you get at the shops is significantly different to pizza dough.

Best pizza comes from a wood fire closed oven. Lets the heat cook the toppings and dough from all sides and gives it a nice smokey flavour.

Del Fornos is also prety decent. Andjicco 24 (sp?) is good but a bit overpriced. I eat it when its provided by work and have to say its a little better than del Forno (at a much higher price).

If you're in JHB north, the carreira's centre on republic has a bakery - you go in there and order the Pizza dough, R16 per KG. Then buy a packet of crushed tomato's as a base. Buy all your other stuffs, and then cook it using your preferred method. Be that oven baked - for Romans taste. Or weber baked for wood fired taste..

tomatoes ffs!

But besides that, thanks for this - I will give it a bash on the weekend. I think they have a decent Ice Cream shop there too...

The SO makes a rocket, sundried tomatoes and blue cheese pizza with a flaky crust.

The other favourite is Russian with caramelized onions and pepperdews.
