Hi Guys,

I just bought the WoW Battle Chest last week, and after fighting with my isp for a few days to unblock the ports, I was finally able to log in yesterday (only to be greeted with a 8 GIG Patch download!).. Anyways, while I wait for the patch to download, hopefully should be done by the time I get back from work this evening, I was hoping to get some input on which realm to join... one with mature players that are there to play the game and not devolve into irreverent and irritating swearing and banter. I'm planning to take the newbie route and I am starting with a Allied Human Warrior.... Any suggestions?

Oh... and I am playing PvE as a start... just so that I can familiarize myself with the gameplay without getting attacked at every turn by Horde members :)

Lightbringer EU, Alliance side quite alot of people playing. As for the "mature" players, thats debateble you get idiots everywhere. But alot of nice people also:)

Ok... all patches have been downloaded. Logged into several different realms, but my latency is between 2000 and 6000 ms!? I've tried the Leatrix fix.. didn't do much :/

Ok... I managed to play up to level 8 with a 3000ms latency (with frequent disconnects)... painful but doable in the early stages.. I'm on Lightbringer.. Username "Viresh" .. gonna run out and get myself a cellc speedstick and see if that makes a difference.

Thanks dude... you got me just in time... was gonna run out now at lunch to get the speedstick. Will try your suggestions first. Thanks!

Enabled p2p and my latency dropped to 800 - 1000ms.. not bad.. although it does spike from time to time.. I'm already at lvl 16 playing like this.

EU - eonar Asyrel 85 priest (main healer)
EU - eonar Guriel 85 pala (tank talk)
EU - eonar Narith 85 hunter (dps alt)
EU - eonar Bearfists 85 druid (heal alt)
EU - lightning's blade Virex 85 rogue (dps alt)

EU,just started with my 30 day trail cause i have SC2.ping is normally 400ms but spikes to 3000ms and then i can't do anything

I play on Bronze Dragonflight. On a bit of a break for studies but will be on next month again. YAY.

Hey,
Try this out for a better ping. First off I used the Leatrix Latency Fix, Google it and get it from WOW interface, that dropped by ping from 600ms to 300ms. I then joined an uncapped account and my latency jumped hugely. I joined Axxess 1GB for R19 and my latency was back to playable, all on a 384k line. When I'm not playing I switch back to the uncapped. It never spikes more than 500ms.

Used to play on EU - Lightbringer Alliance. Then quit because fighting about around friends, friends split up and got bored. So I am no longer playing WoW. And on that note I am selling my account.
