'Skurme' is Olde English for Fencer, or swordsman, or vagabond/rogue/etc. I collect swords irl. So, Quad Erat demonstrandum. So my enhance shammy is Skurm, and my DK (now ex-main), Skurmish.
My mage alt is named Rincewind, from Discworld. My hotsekz belf pally alt is named Sechs, which is deutsh for Six, as in the Cylon, Six, from BSG.

I try to use actual names or something that sounds like a name for the specific race.

My NE druid is named Arieltirein. It comes from Ariel Tir'ein which is a slightly modified name generated by Neverwinter Nights if you play an elf. WoW just doesn't accept spaces and apostrophes :mad:

For other NE or BE names, I look on Google for places with elf names. One site I found contains a translation for words and suffixes, so you can create your own names with meaning.

As for my Draenei chars, that is more difficult since they don't have an equivalent in generic RPG's. At first I would look at the list of draenei npc's on wowwiki and then modify one. Lately though, I tend to use Japanese (like) names for them, since the one faction is called Kurenai an afaik, that's japanese.

Draenei are pretty easy. They're basically gypsies, so you can draw inspiration from east European culture, Russian or Czech, etc.

I bumped into a guy called Zakalwe last night which was the main character in Iain M Banks, Use of Weapons.
He appreciated that I got the reference :P

Have you watched The Last dragon, Shogun is one of the characters in the movie..
 
Shogun is also the term for the commander of the Japanese armies.
I actually haven't named any of my chars Shogun. I prefer to give each of my chars their own unique name.

Innerspirit - for my Druid cos me thinks its a druid names
Tranquilrain - me Ally lock (spit) what can I say first toon and all
 
Strobe - NE Druid - School nick, I won't go there :)
Dangerboy - NE Rogue - From the 5FM morning guy they used to send all over the place.
Ramble - Dranei Huntard - Was listing to Led Zep - Ramble On when I created him.
