Where is after hours data?

Vodacom is pleased to announce that the Night Owl data promotion has been extended to 31 March 2011.

Please refer to the trade bulletin distributed in November for more information (Bulletin Number 10 – 0630).

All Contract customers with a MyMeg 500 or bigger data bundle get an additional data bundle of the same size for FREE, to use between midnight and 5am.

How do customers get Night Owl data?
• Contract customers who already have a data bundle of MyMeg 500 or more, will automatically get the same amount of data for FREE to use in the month.
• Contract customers who have a data bundle that is smaller than 500MBs and want to get the FREE Night Owl data can be migrated to a bigger data bundle of their choice. A FREE Night Owl data bundle of the same size will automatically be activated.
• Contract customers who purchase a once-off bundle of 500MBs or more automatically get the same amount of data FREE.

Vodacom introduces Night Owl, a data promotion for Contract customers, whereby they can buy 1GB of data on Broadband Advanced and get an additional 1GB FREE data to use between midnight and 5am.

Hope this helps.

I was thinking in the lines of the people should utilize the network more in the evening when it is less congested.

Much like telephone calls, shouldn't it be the same with data traffic?

They could make profit in volumes and not quantities, as is the case with free minutes?

This was the reasoning behind the Night Owl promotion , apart from giving contract clients free data , it also gets people used to using the network at times when there is less Network utilization.

I agree that you idea is feasible however we have the colour your friends option where they get free data as well.

To me it feels like the network is less congested during the day. :)

Try to do a big download at 9 pm and see how it crawls. The whole of South Africa is then on the net.

Eish VD...dont mention the 3MB of data. The peeps here will pull your clothes off, crucify you, stick you infront of Cell C headoffice and leave you there to die!

Typical broadband network utilisation (not just Vodacom's) is at a low around 6AM. Then it picks up so that by early evening it's running at a max and there it stays till about 1AM when it drops down to the 6AM mark again.

As KR said; everyone is doing broadband after hours.

Hey , i think most of the forumites are over 25 years old , so they dont qualify to use the service , its aimed at their kids.............:)

It says discounted rates, but it doesn't mention how much discount. Plus it looks like how can I put it, clutter with adverts thrown in.

Can't you just add an option to enable nightowl only on prepaid. Simpler and less complicated "deals" that's straight to the point.

Agreed. Good idea.
