Where is SA going ?

Elections next year will be very interesting. Seems if the middle class is starting to show some resistance to the ANC, or more towards Zuma.
Hopefully the DA, or any other party, except EFF, can win some more territories in the local elections and set things up for the 2019(??) national election.
The ANC will win, but with a new president, and a reduced voter base, they might just start to listen to the people and make some needed changes.
SA has too many foreign companies invested in all sorts of things for it to turn to Zim 2.0
Zim is a small land locked country with not a whole lot going for it. And if all else fails the Chinese will just come and take SA over :)

None of which matters when institutional investors are forced to move out of SA due to their risk management policies.

Correct - funds have rules about how much they can invest in junk and will have to liquidate their positions. Some will start to do so already as after the downgrade they will get a really bad deal.

lol. Yeah, every single other country in Africa has mostly gone to **** yet SA won't?

No, Afrikak is alive and well in this place and spreading fast.

Although I agree that SA is not (by a long shot) on the right path, it's still a pretty nice place to live - better than many others anyway. Hopefully we will get a new president soonish, but eventually the ruling party is going to have to take on the unions and reign them in.

Are you a frog? Beware of warm water...

SA is only a pretty nice place to live for a segment of the population, there is a much bigger segment that might get a little more upset if and when the economy tanks and things get even harder for them.

There were plenty of foreign companies invested in Zim at one stage.

Zimbabwe was regarded as the breadbasket of Africa and it only took one man to wreck it all in a very short space of time.
Don't be naive to think the same cannot happen to South Africa should someone like Malema become president.

What a day on the JSE today.....

After being downgraded again, and we are now just above a "junk" rating ... From stable to negative.

Where are we going ?

Will we be like Zim in 10 years ?

Read somewhere north and south africa are breaking apart so I guess to the south pole baby!

Ah shame... My heart beats lumpy custard.

You get what you vote for!

All I can say ..... Mr president, you are the best ever !

Reading the following is just heart stopping:

The finance minister's removal shows the ANC's disregard for market considerations and a 50- or even 100 basis-point rate hike may follow in 2016 !

Problem is, when they kick off, it won't be at the ANC or their pals who have run the country into the ground, it'll be "the evil white man who has stolen the countries wealth", they are already whipping that sentiment up, Juju is a prime example, also look at how Mad Bob has decimated his country, yet he still gets crowds out to support him.
