Social networking only forms PART of a marketing campaign,at the moment its not all that effective in South Africa.We are idiots in SA,we love our gumtree and our classifieds,we are a good 5 years behind the trend of the internet,hell twitter is tiny in SA atm but in the next few years it'll grow.

Let's just say I do IT for a company that's in the industry and they are focusing more and more on Social Media. If you say we are 5 Years behind then starting something now is a pretty good idea.

The internet has also made it possible that you don't have to target SA consumers anymore. You can now target the whole world.

This is all just my opinion thou I guess time will tell who is right.

Yes but most places are only offering online marketing or e-marketing courses now and those are only certificates,this shows how behind we are.There is plenty opp but South Africans are very wary when it comes to the net and shopping online.We are also brand whores and dont like changing,i may sound negative but it'll take a major mindshift and alot of graft to make it in the online ind in sa,but there is great opp for growth.
