Where the Samsung TV comes from

I feel for Mybroadfband , which ever decision hey make will attract criticism in this situation, and for the person who won,if i win it I would donate it to the person who originally won it.
 
Why did the Mybroadband employees take part in a competition they were not allowed to win?

I feel bad for the employee, but I guess a decision has been made.

Nah charity organisations needs textbooks and pens not TVs.

Give it to us savage tax paying citizens who kill each other each day to get by and let the leeches of society live.

Btw if it is a smart Samsung TV the owner should get 1TB of ADSL data free aswell according to the promo?

It was a Samsung competition, they make the rules. They did not exclude MyBB employees from playing, hence:
and many of us played the game.
She disclosed that she worked for MyBroadband, and the people who run the competition said that it was within the rules.

So to prevent even more people from complaining, she and the rest at MyBB decided to give it away in a new MyBB competition. Whether she was compensated or not is irrelevant, she decided to give the TV up, it was not forced.
 
Has she offered it or has the board decided?
Was she threatened in any way?

i think she should keep it and then create a competition of her own on the MyBB board.

How do you know it wasn't forced? When your boss suggests something most people politely agree whether they want to or not.

The only way to know for sure is to know who suggested the idea first.

Since she wouldn't have entered if she didn't need the TV I'd assume her boss suggested it and she agreed to not look like an ass infront of her boss.

Aka peer pressure. Hell for all we know a jealous colleague suggested it to make her feel crap and to make sure she loses out.

You could be right about her being forced to give up the TV, but I prefer to believe that she willingly agreed to it. If the MyBB staff really forced her to give it up I would not want to support this site anymore and would stop visiting it. So until there is some proof this is what happened I will believe the best.

I do believe this is a beautiful example of ethics and standards. Said MyBB employee must be praised, as should the rest of the MyBB team, it keeps the hands clean and ensures her and MyBB's reputation is clean and no bias can ever been claimed.

If it was you in that position would you willingly give up a tv that the company running the competition said you won fair and square?

I know I wouldn't. Just because you prefer to believe something doesn't change reality.

The only way I'd give it up is if my boss made me feel crap about it.

Which is probably what happened.

Agreed - under the unfortunate circumstances I think they did as well as they could to protect everyone involved.

I noticed some people questioned the decision. Let me explain:

The decision to give the TV away was not a big deal, and the winner was happy with the situation. It is, like killerbyte said, an ethical decision to ensure that you can always trust MyBroadband with competitions and giveaways.

And just to put your mind at ease that it was not a big decision: She has a 46’’ Samsung Smart TV courtesy of MyBroadband already :)
