Where to buy a new DSTV dual-view decoder?

I see that you only pay R55/month extra for dualview so I am thinking of getting a dual-view decoder and trying it out...

Where can one get these nowadays and for how much?

I have had a look at DSTV's website but it seems an unhelpful as ever...
 
Henry, are you gonna wait for the new HDPVRs that will go on sale later this month or is Dual view all you're looking for?

I only want dual-view. Nothing fancy. Just the ability to watch two different channels at the same time on two TV's...

If these new HDPVR's come out soon, then at least the normal PVR's should drop in price, hey?

We're talking about Multichoice here so I wouldn't hold my breath for a price drop. :D

It sucks that they don't even sell the old dual-views anymore cos I won't use the PVR functionality at all I don't think.
 
I got myself a good secondhand one from bidorbuy and installed it yesterday evening - works very well, although I must still activate the 2nd channel with Multichoice - price was R1100 with everything included - decoder, 2x remotes, TV link, signal splitter and A/V cable - looks brand new. If it craps out, I'll pop it to Multichoice and they can swap out...

I also replaced my single LNB with an HD-ready twin LNB for this decoder and adjusted the signal using a satelite finder tool I purchased - I managed to get it setup with a higher signal strength and quality than the original installer did - theirs gave me 72% signal and 93% quality -- after tweaking with the satelite finder tool, I've now got 83% signal and 100% quality! ...and they call themselves professionals!?

how much is the satelite finder, is it that ear piece thinging, making different
noises?

We have Dual View, didn't buy the twin LNB (like R650) only used the splitter that was provided. In the beginning we nearly had no problems, because many channels was on horizontal and not on vertical. If it was vertical it was hidden away in the upper channels (Animal TV, CNBC, Fashion TV, E Entertainment)

But...

With the shuffle it is so messed up, every 3rd channel is vertical. So if someone browses through the channels on TV1, all you get is the "tv's clashing error".

If you get the Dual View, buy an dual lnb as well! ;)
 
Hmmm, lot of good advice here :)

What do the dual-view PVR's currently go for then? R2000+ still? :(

The satelite finder is this one - connects in-line with the decoder-LNB cable (I did mine on the roof next to the dish/LNB - made a 30cm "patch" cable to connect up) - has the meter level and audible beeper - very easy to use.

The ear-piece one is this one - I've heard it's difficult to use...

The twin LNB was this one
