Where to purchase electrical components, wires, etc?

Hello, I've been trying to find a place locally in cape town or online to buy electrical components like power leads, wiring harnesses, male/female adapters for various sizes of plugs, differing voltages of ac adapters, etc. When I lived overseas we had stores like radio shack and even home depot that had a large selection of this kind of stuff. I have looked at all the hardware/electrical stores and can't find a selection of this kind of stuff. I often tinker & mod stuff & am looking for a place that would have a larger selection. Thanks for any tips.

Try and search for ELECTRICAL WHOLESALERS/SUPPLIERS. Like Lido, AC/DC etc.

They have wires, converters, eletrical components and so on.

Do keep in mind that I find RS highly overpriced, so try and use them as a last resort. Communica is pretty good.
Also look at Rabtron for more general items.
