Hi guys

So last week or so I got a OpenWeb 2GB IS account. It was activated on Monday 1st September.
I checked my usage stats now, its gone:eek:
A whole 2Gigs... and I didn't even use it much... Am I missing something?
I mjean Guild Wars can't be using that much, neither does browsing some forum sites and facebook. I downloaded about <10 files(mp3).

Oh ok ........ with my ISP I can account for every meg (it's time/date stamped) .... it even keeps track of if the bandwidth has been used at my location or not. Can you account for every single thing you did from the 1st up until today? Have you updated stuff (someone was just moaning in the GW section about doing a 400mb d/load) .... have you ruled out spyware/malware/a virus?

GW was just a 1MB update...
AVG update, an AdAware update. I mean that can't kill 2Gigs.

I checked on my usage graph now, it says I've sent 550MB on saturday and 990MB on Sunday... WTF!!!

and there's no activity on your account now is there? (just trying to rule out the virus aspect). The only other thing you can try is to contact your ISP and tell them to please look into what happened to your bandwidth (they should be able to see from their side if any hacking took place ..... and if you get no luck, maybe it's time to change ISP's :o)

What is your network setup like?
Wireless?
What?

Tell us more... then we can tell you a few things:

a) Openweb screwed you (search MyBB and check topics out regarding this)
b) Someone on your network / Wirelessly, used your account :)

You mentioned that you downloaded some mp3's. If you were using torents (not saying you were) myabe you unknowingly seeded those same files and gave others a chance to download it from your pc. 500MB upload is quite large.

What about it? I aready checked there... that's where I noticed my 2GBs is wasted.

Well you can track the log-in times, and the amount of data used per session. See if anything looks suspicious. Were there any multiple log-ins and overlapping sessions that might indicate someone else using the account?

Am I missing something regarding OpenWeb Gdiza?

Anyways, My father has a Telkom account and I have a Openweb account. We use the same router(Mega 105WR), but I enabled the firewall on both our machines so that no one can use the others account.

About the mp3s.... Limewire???
About seeding, if you do, does that kill your bandwidth?

Windows update I always disabled, but even if it was on... thats a bit much.

i just noticed you guys mention limewire. i use limewire to get my songs if i switch the monitor section on i see other people looking for songs on my pc (i think thats how it works), so if they get a song or whatever on my pc and they download it does that use up MY gigs?

Any bit of data moving from your machine to the interwebz uses up your gigs whether you clicked "send" or not.
