Which 5k TV?

@kolaval not sure if you've made a decision or not but Makro has the LG 49UM7340 that @Fox1 mentioned on sale for R6000. I want to change my purchase to that but the confusing thing is whether or not they are selling TVs at the moment. It seems that they still list TVs under non-essential at Makro but Takealot has listed TV's under their essential items and my Samsung is still due to be delivered on Wednesday. Hirsch also seems to list TVs as non-essential so either Takealot is breaking the regulation on essential goods or the other shops haven't updated their lists yet.

@Pablo , So we were able to buy a fridge from game this weekend, and they were selling TV's.
I went this morning and now it's a no no.

That's why I said second hand, and to get a shield/chromecast later :) . The shield/chromecast you just stick to the back of the screen with double sided tape or even hot glue
Have you seen olx and gumtree lately? No TV's whatsoever

The LG 49UM7340 is the best TV on a budget. It's got a better build quality and IPS screen compare to the SAMSUNG.

So funny story, some family bought the 75" model and I of course got asked to set it up.
It's as big as a bloody window and it actually hurts your eyes if your'e too close and there's a bright scene.
But, the DSTV decoder's HDMI and 1 of the sound RCA points are broken, so it's connected to the video RCA and 1 sound RCA only.
Looks terrible and sound only comes from the left speaker, but R1k for a new decoder is too much.

This is what I am using and it is not a bad option for you. It's 4K HDR10+, has Dolby Atmos passthrough via Dolby Digital Plus. Has the Apple TV and music apps, DSTV Now, Showmax, Netflix, Amazon Prime, Google Play Movies, Tidal, Youtube and other apps I don't even use (I know it has Spotify, Deezer, VIU and Plex as well). Got WiFi and Bluetooth. Got a DVB-T2 tuner. Lacks a bit of brightness for the HDR and doesn't have Dolby Vision (Better form of HDR) but other than that pretty good for a entry level TV
Link?

Agreed, I despise having a tv in a bed room, but the kids watch netflix on their phones 5 inch from their faces.
What's your reason for this? If you don't want to watch, turn it off. I don't really get it.

For me there are more advantageous. I have two daughters, 3 years apart, with vastly different interests, so it's constant fighting if they're in front of the same TV. My wife loves her series and movies. I don't watch fiction at all. This is the reason we have four TV's.

Unless it's a lazy day in, we (me and the wife) never put the TV in our bedroom on. If she wants to watch her schit, off to our room she goes.

If it's in the bedroom there's an immediate conflict of interest. I want to sleep in a dark, quiet room with no noise and my wife will watch series till who knows what time.

This will be for the kids.
