Which 9AH battery brands aren't kak?

Don't buy it.
My MacBook Pro battery didn't even last 4 years without losing half its capacity and they use top of the line Lithium batteries.
Depends on the number of cycles, pure and simple.

My 16 months were based on a lot of deep cycles.
lithium ion vs lifepo4, different chemistry. lifepo4 is heavy and bulky, not good for cellphones and laptops, but fine for cars and homes. so not the same thing.

Your expectations of 10 year is out there, that is for sure.
Looking at some of the most expensive lithium based batteries, they projected cycle count is around 1000-1500 cycles.
Life of the battery is also not determined solely by cycle count when it is that long.

I realize, but for any battery the ultimate criteria for life time is determined by three factors, age, cycle count and discharge depth.
It is an ongoing chemical reaction, not an electrical or electronic device.

If the chemistry is superior as you claimed, why are only low cost car manufacturers using it?
Why isn't the power wall using it?

Word is Tesla might use LifePO4 for 3rd world countries on their new "low cost model"

Its application is low cost first and foremost from everything I've read so far. High demand, high cycle count is still dominated by the same technology used in Laptops, Phones, etc. And the really expensive tech is using that same technology of LifePO4.

Ultimately the lifetime of Lithium-ion is pretty clear to me. I have a bunch of devices that use them. After 5 years, things are sad, that is for sure.
Which makes me ask, should I pay 10x more if size and weight is not an issue

the pylontech is rated for 6000 cycles at 80% DOD or 4500 cycles at 100% DOD, with 60% usable capacity after that.

Haha no way, I really am curious if others are seeing it deliver on that promise.
If not what can you do, it is a Chinese company and they love over promising.
That is WAY better than a power wall which is rated at 1500 cycles at most

EDIT: Yep as expected, plenty people dispute their claim when I google :p
More expensive brands using even better quality cells with the same chemistry and configuration are claiming much lower cycle counts

well there is a 10 year warranty.

edit: powerwall is **** then, also not lifepo4 but cobalt.

More expensive brands using even better quality cells with the same chemistry and configuration are claiming much lower cycle counts

Depends on the purpose. But a lot of people see Lithium as some kind of golden bullet.
Blue Nova is the worst kind of company. They try sell these Lithium batteries because it is a hot item claiming they are 100% compatible with all lead acid applications but it just isn't true. Plenty of posts even here on MyBB of people running into trouble with them.

If you have low cycle count, lead acid is perfect.
It is cheap, it works with cheap crappy chargers (something Lithium is completely unforgiving of).

What is with buying just one product, buy the best product for the job.

If something is sold with Lead Acid, stick with lead acid unless it is something like an inverter that actually supports Lithium (And the inverter actually says it supports it mind you).
Else you are just setting yourself up for pain.

Yep, I phoned them up to ask if if their batteries would work in my UPS and they didn't hesitate to say that they would. What a waste of my time. Luckily I could return them to Takealot.

i was referring to proper off grid inverter scenario, not lead acid replacement with crappy chargers, but only noticed thread title now so i guess not the right place to discuss.

lithium still the way to go imho, better cycles, better dod, better charging time, better temp tolerance. and they'll only get cheaper, in 10 years there will be way better batteries on the market. lead acid is going nowhere and are a pain to manage in large banks.
