Which BB for my needs?

As far I can see online just by browsing the photos, the 9780 has a smaller resolution screen than the Torch?

I understand the rest of the problems, but it might not be with every Torch? Maybe the Torch you used is just a dud?

The one has a portrait resolution the other landscape is what I meant and the BB OS works better in landscape (more icons on home screen) The battery life is common I have many friends with them and they all complain, I have also used one extensively(girl friends). The top heavyness doesn't change from phone to phone, the phone is pretty heavy and when you try and use the keyboard all you hold is the keyboard and its like holding a brick with an exam pad.

I also came from 5800 XM, changed to the Torch in Oct. Still can't stop playing. Coming from a touch screen it was nice to still have it and the combination of touchscreen, trackpad and keybiard is unbeatable. Don't throw away the 5800 though - I still rate OVI maps the best GPS phone software around.

Turns out the 9300 with OS6 has a little less free (after OS components) memory than you may expect. My wife loves themes and frequently runs out of free app space, which did not happen prior to the OS6 upgrade.

Id say the BB 9300 Curve. Its cost effective and value for money in the BB range. If you have extra cash to spend buy the BB Bold 9780. Awesome phone and comes with Version 6 Operating System which works well.

The 9300 has 3G and Sat Nav as a plus.

BIS includes BBM :) so you can receive emails effortlessly and a keyboard away to chat to your GF.
BIS is R60 per month on top of your package (R135pm + R60) but there are specials where the BB is R79pm and thats includes BIS BUT it comes with a lower spec BB aka the 8520 ( No 3G)

BB has "Blackberry APP World" where u can download apps.

hope this helps.

I second the BB 9300 3G. I have used the BB 8100, 8310, 8520 and Storm 9500 and with all of them i had to pull the battery more than once a day after the phone froze but i am in my second month with the 9300 3G and i have never had to pull the battery once.maybe its because of the OS6 which i upgraded to.

Thank you everyone.

Boyah, if I am going to change phone types I will rather be on 3G than Edge or GPRS. Even if it is a BB and optimized for it's connectivity type, it would be extremely painful for me to use any phone without 3G. My 5800XM has a 5mp Camera and HSDPA 3.6 mbps so I won't go for the 9300 either. That would mean I have to downgrade in camera quality, photos as well.

The 9780 looks really promising since it has HSDPA and 5mp Camera and I see MTN has it for R249 pm including BIS costs, with R100 airtime.

Where does the Torch come into? Is it the Ultimate BB to have or is it just another model?

Edit: I see it's R239 pm on MTN Direct.

If you go with Nashua Mobile, they have MTN package for R249pm with BIS, R200 airtime and 25 sms.
I got mine there :) Maybe a black one for u , and a white one for your gf?

Thank you, I didn't think that Nashua might have a better deal than MTNSP. I'll take a look, appreciate it!
