Which Beemer?

135i coupe

I have no girlfriend or wife to tie me down and no commitments. If I did, it'd ne the 335i for practibility

Incidently, I once took a few brands and narrowed down the models I'd buy within the brand. The 135i is the only BMW :/

The new BMW 5 GT is just under 500k I think. I like it, others don't. That or a 6 series, but I think those cost a bit more than 550k.

Save up another 100k and buy a Porsche Cayenne
Only if you want to look like a rich soccer-mom/footballer's wife.

Besides, its a Q7/Tuareg w/ Porsche badge & OP specified no other brands.

I know a BMW employee who regularly gets a new car (~every 6 months). He also said the 330d is his fav.

2009 335i Coupe with low kms.
Also a good choice, especially if he is in Gauteng.

No it isn't.
Sure it is:
Cayenne wiki said:
Its platform was developed by Porsche and is shared with the Volkswagen Touareg and the Audi Q7.
The three companies share a hell of a lot of tech as VW is a subsidiary of Porsche. Audi in turn is a subsidiary of VW. On some VWs, the floor mats even say Audi on them.

So if it was developed by Porsche and then shared with Audi and VW, how is it an Audi/VW with a Porsche badge?

You guys are all crazy......second hand M3 is the way to go.

the new 1 series m will be out soon ... id wait and buy that ... hold thumbs the price is good, currency is good ...

Ooooh whats the specs on that!? Sounds exciting, only if its faster than the RS3 :p

Actually both Audi and Porsche are subsidiaries of VW. But that's besides the point.

Pity we don't have the 35d engines here. Damn our dirty fuel. Also, why isn't the E92 body available with a diesel option?

Well spotted. Depends on which wiki article you read though. The VW one:
The Touareg (internally designated Typ 7L) was a joint venture project developed by Volkswagen Group, who also include Audi, and Porsche

My point is, the only thing distinguishing you from the plebs who drive VW/Audi is the badge. You pay a premium for the badge & don't get any better tech than the plebs. The three are even built in the same factor.

But yes, I see your point too. One can turn the entire thing upside down & say the Touareg is Porsche tech w/ a VW badge.

Not anymore. Porsche owns VW, which in turn owns Audi.

It was pretty big news on the financial scene. Porsche is tiny compared to VW & yet they managed to take control.

Yes, but only recently...the EU court needed to kill the Volkswagen law first.

Fact is they still do and recently was over a year ago.

Out of interest, my stepfather went Touareg 2.5 > Touareg V10 > Porsche Cayenne last week and they're *not* the same. There is a bit more to a car than sharing a platform/chassis and a few parts.

135i coupe without a doubt ! depends on your age and needs though... family man or like 40+ 335i is more your scene :)
