Would those dots disappear if you go to a site that isn't on free then ie youtube?
So I can use that as an indication about what I'm paying for?

3G or EDGE will appear next to the signal bars and also a little 4 spot blackberry icon. You should also get a message saying that your handheld has been registered with the wireless network.
It's an awesome phone Ive had mine for a few days now.
I have had mine for 3 weeks and love it. One query though-- I dont get the little Blackberry icon next to the 3G or GPRS. Any ideas why? I am connected to BIS

You only get it on 3G and if you're not getting it then there is an application on your phone preventing it from working. When this happens and you go to the browser are you seeing blackberry or Vodafone? GPRS or EDGE in caps means you're using bis.

i got the 9700 on Vodacom about 36hrs ago but have not experienced any BIS glory yet as there seems to be a hiccup with my account activation. My sim card was prepaid and we did a conversion to contract, but its still in prepaid mode. Have contacted the vodashop dude and will see what's going on tomorrow i guess!
