Which car is more reliable?

I drove a megane that only gave me crap from about 250 000km. Reason = well looked after.
The 200is started giving problems at around 150 000kms. Reason = It was an emergency vehicle and we drove the crap out of it.
TATA, never owned one.
I drove in a chevy spark lite. Damn that thing is tiny even for a short @rse like me.

My opinion is that if you look after a car, both service and driving, it should last a long time (although I am not sold on the TATA :p )

That's the scary part. :erm:
Just because a company has the biggest share in another company does not automatically make them the same. They might share technologies from time to time but it will never compromise the product since that will alienate the target consumers and result in bad results for the share holders (read owning company). Volvo still has its own factories and production lines so I see very little problems.

Even when you look at the new MG that is entirely Chinese built there is very little wrong with the car. They know what their target buyers are and they are making sure the product they build will attract the buyers they want.

I think he was actually talking about the Tata Indica, which is in the OP's list... Volvo is owned by Geely, like I said earlier, but that definitely does not make a Volvo a Geely. It is a different story with MG, which was a dead car brand, revived by SAIC Motors. Nothing of the old company went into the new cars. I was not impressed by the interior of the MG6, when I looked at one a while back and when the Top Gear guys tested the car that it is based on (Roewe 550) a while back, they also did not like the ride and handling.

Except the new MG is not built in China, the new owners have reopened Longbridge (the original Rover MG factory) and are building the cars there.

The first British-built MG6 hatchback rolled off the production line today, marking both the return of MG Motor in the UK and the re-opening of the Longbridge car factory after a six-year hiatus
