which car to buy ?

My wife wrecked her car, it was a write off and we are looking to buy a car, but not able to decide. She had a 2014 Honda Jazz Auto. She only drives an automatic. I have an 2014 Etios, I wanted to get a fortuner but since this happened and she needs a car to commute to work, this is more important.
So far the choices were :

2022 Toyota starlet : resale ones were around 220,000, boot space too small. This will be a new car in the house so obviously family trips will be in this car, and a smaller boot would be a problem.
2022 Honda amaze : was around the same price as starlet, but honda stealership costs are too much. Of course, I can go to independent service centers, but I prefer dealerships for peace of mind.
2021 Toyota Quest : Again around the same price as starlet. The older ones come without a rear camera, I would prefer if it had one as its a sedan. Also I am not sure about the auto transmission on toyota cars.
2022 Toyota Corolla Cross : R350000, I like the car, but if I buy this car I would never be able to buy that fortuner and I always wanted a 4*4. I find Having 2 big cars in the same house is just stupid.
 
I test drove the starlet today, the automatic transition is not smooth at all.

Get the corolla cross now and buy yourself a jimny later. This way, you don't have two big cars in the house and you also avoid buying a pos now.

test drove one today and brought it home to test it in our garage. My garage sits flush with the pavement and the road is a busy one, especially in the mornings, she doesn't want the hassle of pulling out a huge car. So that's out

I wouldn't say rubbish. I'd much rather have a Baleno GLX over a Polo Vivo. I'd avoid the auto though.
 
You should take a look at the Mazda 3 (2020/21 model) or CX-30 too. You might find a decent one in your budget.
 
Why not just get another Jazz, you can get a nice Mk 3 auto for around R200k.
Who cares about Honda's service costs, only a fool services a vehicle at the dealers if it’s out of warranty.

This is the second jazz my wife has wrecked, she doesn't want to get another :laugh:.
Jazz has been discontinued, Honda Fit is the new jazz, the dealer called me today. he said a new one is available for 320000. But you don't see many Honda Fit and the nose of that car is ugly. I always prefer a common car, easier to find after market parts.
will check it out tomorrow.

Would prefer something cheap and reliable. But not older than 5 years.
We don't do a lot of km's. Her max is 600km/ month and it has been like that since covid.
So it doesn't justify having an expensive feature rich car with would just bee standing in the the garage most of the time

Yes the car was fine but the auto transmission was rubbish. It almost felt like it's a manual car someone invisible is manually is changing gears for me

The Fit is just the branding Honda used in some markets for what we called the Jazz, it’s the exact same thing with a different name. Why get a new one, Jazzes are so reliable a low mileage Mk 3 will be far better value and they do look much better than the Mk 4 but the current 4th gen facelift Fit is a bit better looking than the launch model.

The Jazz/Fit share parts across many of the Honda product range, I don't think aftermarket parts will be difficult to find for most common parts even on the latest Fit.
