Which car?

Fire jokes aside, the 1.0 ecoboost fiesta is a very cool little car. dynamically, features and engine. I feel its quite a level up on the Micra.

If want your car to be stolen then ford is the car to have!!

Buy corolla 2019 hatchback demo.

Having a hard time finding that model online... what price range? Surely it's considerably more than the R240k bracket? I don't know a lot about the new Corolla.
Yeah will be bit out of price range, but really good resale value.

You might have to go for older model which was called the Auris, which is very reliable cars.

I'm looking at replacing my older model Ford Focus for a daily runaround - the 1.6 is a bit sluggish and not as fuel efficient as I'd like. It's just done 100k - we drive very little.
You say you drive very little but the fuel economy is bugging you for some reason and you want to spend R200k+ on a newish car which will depreciate quite a bit in the next couple of years (the depreciation on your Focus has pretty much plateaued).

Doesn't make sense to me o_O What are you really saving here?

We have a 3 of those model focus 1.6's here. It's slow, it guzzles fuel and I hate the small mirrors. But it gets the sht driven out of it on a daily basis. Get's driven hard right from start up. It really has a hard life yet it just keeps on going. Not one of them have broken down yet. It doesn't even leak or smell like oil (as most ford's inevitably does).

Rather keep the current car and accept the fuel usage. Unless you really just feel like a new car I what you have now is probably best.

Edit: of the two I regularly drive the one has 140k km on, the other 300k km.

Bear in mind that the additional money you'll pay now for the new car will likely never recoup itself in fuel savings.

Especially not where the fuel savings are so marginal.

It's not like you are going from a V8 Supertrick to an Econobox.

Yes, this I agree with. There's also a chance I'm going to move from the city to a beach resort and live / work from there - there's an hour commute into town (2 hours both ways), so in future fuel will come into play somewhat, but probably not in the way I would hope.

Yeah I’m just mentioning it as many people seem to disregard it.

They pay more money for the new car than they do for the entire fuel bill across five years and think they are saving.

So there should be a great many other reasons in play if it’s to be a cost saving.

Just get a Kia Rio. That ecoburst engine will explode on you. Especially at the mileage you are looking at, that’s where most of them explode. It’s a good engine but only when it works.

omg how did i over look this! hahahaa. I bought my parents a Kia Rio Tec a few years back. small auto car with a ton of features. its absolutely bullet proof and a solid classic design.

1.4 might be quite sluggish

It does depend, i find it adequate as a city runaround on the very few occasions. definately not a car i would personally own purely due to power. but then again my preferences are completely different to my parents
