Hi all,

I would really appreciate your take on the next potential vehicle for my wife.

The current waiting period for most new vehicles in Europe currently amount to a minimum of 9-12 months, with some models even taking longer. However with that being said, she can can get the following 2x options without waiting that long, hence the shortlist only consisting of 2x vehicles. :)

The first option that we're evaluating is the Audi Q3 Sportback 45 TFSI e, with the other option being the new BMW X1 25e - only plug in hybrids considered based on the company car options available to her.

My car is being used as the family car and given that that our kids are 2 and 3 years old respectively, there is no need for a bigger vehicle.

Thanks in advance for your contributions, whether fact or opinion based!

You just came here to brag?
I guess this is your opinion based contribution? :)

Definitely not bragging, given the reality that these are pretty much everyday / run-of-the mill type of vehicles on this side...

Keep in mind that even poetshulp (cleaners) arrive at your house with a Clio or Focus, as such not a like for like comparison with our beloved SA but an objective request for input and opinions.

They are both direct rivals pretty much (except the Sportback Q3 rocks the slopping roofline).

Obviously the new X1 is an all new model whereas the current shape Q3 is from 2018 so should not be to far away from a facelift or update.

If you can live with everything buried in the infotainment system & get familiar with the multitude of features in iDrive 8 the X1 is prolly the better option. I personally like the rear light treatment & end of the new X1 as well. YMMV.

Note I have not done research on the range & charging abilities of the PHEV systems of the respective models.
That should also help sway what works best for your situation.

PS: The OG post did not come across as a brag at all.

From someone that owned several BMWs model and that has now moved into an Audi

The Audi superior quality is day and night difference compared to a BMW

Both options are dull as dishwater white goods. In this class you may as well buy Korean and get better warranties, as there will be no particular BMW 'feel' in an X1. So just choose the one you prefer the look of.

That said, you've not told us what the main family car is. If it is another appliance, then the wife should ditch the benefit-in-kind scheme (which makes the low income taxpayer fund your pretend-eco German car lease) and use the funds to buy something interesting.

No thumb sucking here
I am basing my comments on my ownership of both brands
From the interior quality and also the cost of maintenance over the period

If you feel I am wrong you welcome to debate me but come with your evidence and ownership experience with what models you comparing to which.

I didn't say anything. Was just thinking that is all.
