Sorry if this has been raised on this forum.
What is the best writer for my MBP?
I am a convert from Windows and find this aspect of the OSX confusing.
Thanks

US$80 :wtf:

Rougly the same as Nero, I imagine. If you just want to chuck files on a disc, then the built-in tools are sufficient. But if you want to get fancy, you're always going to have to pay for something decent. Or use Linux.

K3b is still my favourite burning app of all time. Wonder how hard it would be to install in OS X.

Hard. KDE4 is being ported to OS X though, so that might be less hard some time in the future. I've tried to make konsole work but it was too much trouble. I like K3B too...

LiquidCD http://www.maconnect.ch/ is my weapon of choice. Like Burn, it is a very capable free challenger to Toast's throne. Toast has earned itself a very bad reputation globally not for it usability but rather Roxio's upgrade policy.

To burn files: Make a burn folder with Finder, drag files into it, then burn.
To burn audio/mp3 cd's: iTunes.
To copy disks and burn disk images: Disk Utility.

No need for 3rd party software generally.
