So I want to buy myself a new cellphone for Christmas. But how on Earth do I choose? :erm:

First, I have several options on where to buy it:
*New Zealand, one month until I leave.
*Singapore, as I stop there on the way back.
*South Africa. I'll be staying, so maybe I can get a better deal on a contract?

I saw the Nokia X6 is available for pre-order in Singapore. It has everything I want, but at $1000 (R5380) it's probably too much for me

So, something cheaper than that. What's important to me:
*GPS
*Music sound quality
*Applications
*Battery life
*Qwerty keyboard

Good camera and the other things are nice to have as well, but knowing me they wont get used much.

So what is there to choose from, and where should I get it?
Any good contract deals in SA worth looking at?

Get a contract.... you almost always pay less over the 2 years with free stuff thrown in. Plus you don't need to expend the "capital" up front.

Got my N82 on a contract for R200 per month. That'll be an outlay over 2 years of R4800. When I got it, in fact even now, you couldn't buy it outright for that price! Plus throw in the R200 to use on calls etc every month.

EDIT : Whatever you do, don't get an iPhone :)

That E72 is looking good. Although 15FPS video, small screen and huge keyboard bother me. I'm considering it.
Although I guess I wont be getting anything more expensive than that.
Anything with fold out keyboard and/or touch-screen possible around that price?

What about Sony Ericsson and the others? My Sony Ericsson K800i served me well for over two years.

Also, what can I get on SA contracts? Maybe I'd get something better that way. I'd probably go with Vodacom and try to get my old number back.
