Which CHEAP Tablet should I choose

Er...not really tbh. Amazon ships to SA now...

Depends on item and size, some they do some they dont, best way to find out is to start the order and see if they block you from entering SA shipping address.

If they dont, there is Companies that provide this service, you ship to them and they reship it to SA.

How about not..

Direct conversion of 249$ is R1627.... There is no ways that the shipping and customs etc and their profit margin comes to another R1639...

Hi guys,

I got the Archos 101 8GB 10" yesterday.
Like Archos promised the multimedia functions are awesome - it streams videos from a PC without any lag and plays 720 flawless from internal memory.
The screen is pretty good, but you do need to press down a little for it to respond.
The normal keyboard was too small for my liking, so I installed Thumb Keyboard which works much better.
It prompted me and installed 2.3 over wifi which worked fine.
The camera is just OK for video chats.
Battery life seems pretty good. Currently at 81% after fair browsing during the day.

Yes I sometimes do get a bit of a lag when move around apps and windows but not too much.

All in all I am pretty happy with the device.

Good to hear, Well on the touch screen one can expect that from resistive and it has its pro's you can use anything as a stylus unlike us snobs that need to get a special stylus to work on ours.

Knowing Achros you will get the Ice Cream Sandwich update as well, unlike the apads that is a maybe.

The Archos 101 actually has a capacitive screen. It is good but not as sensitive as a iPad 2 screen.

Thanks mk1, how is reading on the device? I am looking to get a pad that will not hurt my eyes on extensive reading pdf etc..

Viewing a magazine in PDF format works fine.
Scrolling to the next page, it does sometimes takes a few seconds to update but it aint too bad.
The screen itself is bright and clear.

thx, I wonder if there is any way of connecting a 3G dongle to it.

Vodacom is offering the videos s7 slim from next month so our cheap tablets prayers will be answered soon.

The s7 is $300 or 250 euro so I assume we will get it on a sub R200 data package.

Been reading reviews on it and it seems pretty good for the price.
