Which chipset would be the best for a Core2 Duo E6600, the 975X or the P965?

Which chipset for E6600

either will do. with the 975X make sure the MOBO supports conroe. there are a few motherbaords (Intel BadAxe) for example that only support conroe on the later revisions (304 and up as far as I remember). Older revisions do not support Conroe...

well you see the thing is that 975's do cost more or at leats the ones that support conroe...
You know, this actually irritates me - Sybaritic was initially selling the E6600 for around R2800. A few days later, the price jumped to R3000. No problem, I thought, the price will go back down so I'll just wait. Today I checked again and it is now R3222. Same thing with the Bad Axe - the price has gone UP over time, instead of DOWN. The rand has been pretty much stable during this period, so it's those @rses that are trying to make a quick buck while the demand is high.
This is actually not an attack Sybaritic - I'm sure that other stores are doing the same. It's just that I've been visiting their site every day.
It frustrates me when the fact that vendors are exploiting the consumer is as clear as day, the best example would be Telkom of course.
Even though I have the cash, I will NOT buy the E6600 until they reduce the price to what it is supposed to be.

Can't go wrong with 975 chipset. nForce 590 SLI should be great but not too sure about that as there aren't any nForce5 Conroe boards yet...
ATI RD600 should be as ggod as 975 if not better when released, but we'll have to see...

Conroe E6600 is $400, which roughly translates to R2,800 if you use R7:1$ exchange. So they couldn't have possibly sold it for R2,800
That R3,2220 makes much more sense so i'ts not so bad, but Conroe is way too expensive right now

even at R3200 its still not bad. Remember, this is currently a top-of-the line CPU. It outpreforms R8000 AMD's !

na want gets my back up is that hey in little old south africa we all get F%$t ijn the "bum" when it comes to prices of well every thing... i mean in america they get things a good 20% cheaper than us... oh well what can i do? and did you know its cheaper to fly to hong kong and faster to download 100gigs than it is here...
