If you were to leave South Africa, and there were no visa/entry restrictions on you and your family, which country would you move to and why?

As for why, it's simple: all South Africans have been brought up on a Hollywood diet since being born so it's the least foreign English-speaking country.
- The UK: too cramped and rainy
- Europe: too foreign
- Australia/New Zealand: funny accents and spiders (thanks JC)
- Asia: overpopulated and/or too foreign
- South America: too many drug cartels

I wanted to explain to you that the 'Merica you see through the glasses of Hollywood is not the real 'Merica. But then I read your round-up of the rest of the world and realized you'll fit right in.

I think we can all agree that 'America' is big enough to be anything to anybody, from out in the corn fields to on top of a mountain to at a beach to in the middle of the desert or anywhere in between. I think that's why so many Americans don't even have a passport: you want to get that 'international travel' experience you just travel across the country.

For me, heck, Asia...hot Asians are the best! Ok, jokes, but on a serious note, yeah, I'd like to do Asia while I'm still young (lived there before and I didn't suffer from culture shock ). South America has some good spots, won't mind living there either. The USA isn't for me, it's like SA 2.0 in a lot of ways (I'll be grilled for this, I know), and yes, the UK is depressing except during their 1 week of summer. Wouldn't mind NZ or Aus, particularly if married with kids, but now's not the time. Europe is nice too. Maybe I'll visit Voicy in Norway sometime, I'm just scared my toes will freeze off.
