im at the following link http://www.vodacom.co.za/services/mobile_data/downloads.jsp

but now im not sure what i need...

on the back of my hsdpa card all i see is... option, qualcomm 3g cdma model: GT 3g+ EMEA

so do i have the quadlite, fusion, colt ????

and which of the two application softwares must i download? the 45meg or the 70 meg....

thanks

Version 9.1 of VMC supports all of the Data Cards released by Vodafone, so rather download that version. You can also look at v3g's sticky FAQ thread as it describes how to find out which model of Data Card you have based on what appears in the Data Card's serial number.

oh no.... downloaded it and installed with no problems

now try run it... and get this error... sometimes crashes on the dashboard startup and sometimes even lets me connect for a couple minutes... weird... i had a fresh os install last night

"microsoft visual c++ runtime library
buffer overun dectected!
program:... vodafone mobile connect\bin\mobileconnect.exe

a buffer overun has been detected which has corrupted the programs
internal state. the program cannot safely continue execution and must now be terminated"

my laptop is the HP nx7010 and voda 3g has been grafting on it fine for 2 years now..... (please someone tell me its a hardware fault so ive got an excuse to give to my wife when i arrive home with a new laptop)

Ok, some forumites have reported issues with VMC v9.1 and SMSes being received - although they could be MMSes, which appear to cause VMC v9.1 to crash.

Assuming that this is what is causing VMC v9.1 to crash on your HP notebook, I would try the following:
  1. Put the SIM card into an ordinary phone, and delete any SMSes and MMSes on the SIM card; then
  2. In VMC, look for any options related to retrieving or receiving SMSes, and disable such options if possible.
If that doesn't work, then you will probably have to try the previous version 7.x of VMC.

Hopefully Vodafone have been kicking some ass getting the company that develops & maintains their VMC dashboard s/w to fix these crash problems...

Also check in the Diagnostic menu option to see if your Option Data Card has the latest firmware version compared to what is available on Vodacom's downloads site - this is where you will need to check the s/n against what is in v3g's FAQ to determine which model of Option data card you have.
