If you locked at vsync'ed 60fps having it run at 99% is not ideal as that means you running with no headroom. Different if you running unlocked fps on a high refresh rate monitor though (running unlocked on a 60Hz panel is a waste for a game like GTA V).

I don't use vsync as it causes input latency, I would rather limit the framerate in afterburner/rivatuner. I upped quite a few settings like MSAA which I did not use before (FXAA) and it's all good now, I even installed a ENB/Reshade mod today and this gpu is just spitting those frames out like there's no tomorrow.

Something else about pascal is that it runs really really cool, I doubt I've seen 60C yet.

I'm too old to notice things like input lag, especially in a game like GTA. Imo using MSAA isn't worth it, I can't get locked 60 with MSAA enabled.

Yes, mine doesn't run that cool but it's to be expected for a blower cooler. With my OC it stays at about 70-72 at load and generally around the low 60s during gaming. This is with a custom fan curve.

I pulled the trigger on a the MSI GeForce GTX 1060 6GT OC 6GB from Evetech on a whim last week.. Only wanted an SSD for the GF's PC, but ended up walking out with the 1060 as well..
It's made for a nice upgrade from my aging GTX670! And it works well enough at 1440p, so i'm happy!
 
My Zotac AMP arrived from Wootware yesterday and replaced my old MSI 460GTX. Replaced the drivers, and ran a few quick tests, mostly to get a feel for the noise and temps. The fan peaked at 44%, which I couldn't hear over my CPU's 120mm fans. Temps peaked at about 65deg, after about 15min of testing. Guess the true taste will be in the gaming :)
 
I WAS going to get the 1070, but the Mrs gave me "that" look. You know, the "just because I said you should do what you want didn't mean you should do what you want". So I settled on the 1060.

They sell out pretty quickly over here, so decided on the Gigabyte G1 Gaming 6GB. Reviewers seem pretty impressed buy it - fans only kick in at about 60 degrees, has a good OC out the box, and the G1's use the top tier of available chips, so I know it'll go for a while. It's also not that expensive that I'll feel guilty replacing it a couple of years from now. Oh, and it has a backplate! The RGB didn't really factor into my decision - I want a GPU, not a rainbow - and I ordered a closed, silent case anyway.

Edit: not sure why it took me so long to decide - it WAS a bit of a no-brainer with regards to performance: my last card was a Radeon HD6670.

Is there a big difference between the 3gb and 6gb 1060?
