Which handgun do you recommend for EDC?

Got this today:

Afternoon All there seems to be a little fuss about saps roadblocks and the carrying of firearms .
In summary it is alleged that saps have stopped members of the public and have checked to see if they are carrying section 13 firearms or firearms licensed under another section.
Saps have demanded that non section 13 firearms be carried unloaded and in handgun cases , bags or sleeves. My following comments relate to HANDGUNS only.
Section 84 contains the requirements for carrying a handgun in public and on your person. Simply put, a handgun must be in a holster and concealed . No reference is made in this section to a firearm being licensed only in terms of section 13: in other words it applies to all handguns and is not limited to section 13 licenses.
We need to look elsewhere in the act to determine whether you may carry a non section 13 license and I suggest you all look at section 14 [6] section 15 [4] section 16 [3] and section 17 [4] which allows use and therefore in my interpretation the carrying thereof , "where it is safe to use the firearm and for a lawful purpose ".
Self defense is a lawful purpose.
Firearms must be stored unloaded in terms of regulation 86. Storage is not the same as having a handgun on your person.
Yet again saps have scored an own goal: if you know of any actual examples [ pls not repeats of social media posts] pls send me the details.

I don't think anyone that carries is disputing that. But the fact remains, the roadblock cops don't know the law, or they are willfully misinformed by management. And while they figure out the law, you're the one that spends quality time with Bubba over the weekend.

Edit: In saying that, all we need is one wrongful arrest for carrying an S16, and the cops having to pay out and this nonsense will stop.

I found this response from Zaahir(GOSA) to someone asking about this situation.

Is Zaahir a lawyer? He should know that the average man on the street isn't going to sue anyone. Similarly, if complying entails being arrested and spending time in jail over the weekend, that's not an acceptable situation for most people.

Martin posted this 5 mins ago.

Morning All I see Natshoot has issued a follow up email to explain it's mail of yesterday and that it is quite clear that natshoot does not agree with or condone the conduct of saps.
I am personally aware of one credible instance where saps acted in the same way in the WC which seems to intimate that this is a co ordinated approach.
However their conduct remains unlawful and saps need to be constantly reminded of the rule of law and have their arse's kicked if they act unlawfully.
If you know of credible examples, pls send details to [email protected]

Yay!
S15 approved today...now the wait for the card...
So thats:
105 Calendar days
76 business days
(Handed in 13 Jan 2022, Gun bought in Dec 2021:crying:)

Hopefully another 6-8 weeks for the card...
What a painful process...(Seemed slightly quicker than my first (S13) application though...)

What do you do should you encounter a stupid cop who wants to charge you for carrying hollow point ammunition?

I guess the same as this scenario. You'll have to wait for them to lay a charge and decide if you have the energy and money to fight a wrongful arrest case.

.... doesn't jam....

The worst firearm failure I've seen was on a revolver. Locked up so bad, a gunsmith had to sort it out. If something fouls up the timing mechanism, or it is slightly worn out, things can go bad very quickly.

With a modern pistol you can tap, rack and assess, then carry on. A revolver, not so much.
The chance a revolver locks up to the point you are describing is rare. I personally know that if you overload it, it is possible for the cartridge to get stuck or crack the chamber. Second thing that can happen is old ammunition and the bullet itself can get stuck in the revolver barrel and this can happen to any gun actually. This is darn near impossible to fix. If the barrel deformed than RIP.

But because you said a gunsmith had to sort it out the last thing I can think of is the mechanical parts maybe? But again I have seen how very old revolvers remain functional. The only time I have ever seen a revolver fail was when the ammunition itself was the problem. But because that can cause any gun to fail I can't credit it to a revolver only problem.

That said again not looking to pick a fight, I am just saying a good gun owner keeps their weapon in immaculate condition otherwise it is a liability. Also just to add here any gun can and will fail it is mechanical and it has tolerances and once a part goes beyond its tolerance then RIP.

Again what exactly happened. Because for a revolver to fail it had to be very specific. Like any gun there are parts that can cause trouble but again more info would be great.

Personally I've got nothing against revolvers. My grandfather had a 38 special he swore by. I never saw him have to use it to defend us, but that thing came with us on long road trips or when suspicious sounds were heard. He was old school, fought in World War 2. I think the world moved on a bit since then.

I got to take my new 43x to the range today for the first time. It was just a quick 15 minutes and 40 rounds, as the place was closing and traffic was a bark getting there. But great to give it an outing anyway. Very happy with the purchase, feels great in hand and less kick than I expected as I'd expected more movement than the G19. It didn't seem so.

Yeah I shot both a 43X and 19 side-by-side, and didn't have any noticeable difference to my untrained perspective. It was just about the feel, I had a bit more comfortable grip with the 19, which is why I went with it. It all just depends on your hands and what you personally prefer.

I did take a little bit of a punt as the 19 felt great in hand and the 43x a little less so. But I reckoned I plan to spend a good bit of time on the range so I'll get used to it as the size is important to me. To be fair, it felt good at the time, but just not as snug as the 19 did. although firing a few rounds through it tonight felt great and I'm glad I went for it in the end.

I looked at both the 43X and 26 briefly today.
I really wanted to like the 26 but it was just too awkward in my hands.
Ill probably go for the 43x

What I like about the 43x is that I can operate the mag release without changing my grip of the gun.. My 23c not so much..
