Hiya fellow broadband surfers!

I'd really be interested to hear any feedback around the following desktop & laptop brands, and how you find it to work in your (corporate) environment:
Dell/HP/Lenovo

TIA!

I like HP, Dell is OK and so is Lenovo. For every person with a good experience on each product, you will find somebody with a bad one. For the corporate I think it boils down to the best support, price and ability to manage lots of desktops centrally. I have worked with all three and don't see much difference to be honest....
I think everybody should be using thin-clients :)

Going to be an interesting thread.

Have a Dell... their next business day support is superb. Over the last few months had the following replaced (2 year old lappy):

HDD (got a bigger one)
Keyboard
Monitor (Dead Pixels) & various plastic bits when a screen hinge snapped.
Mobo & Graphics card

All were seperately logged incidents... all got tended to the next business day... all free replacements.

Their support is great.

My experience with Lenovo as a business machine in the work environment is a little less than excellent. See this http://mybroadband.co.za/vb/showthread.php?t=149858

Our new HP's are OK'ish. Performance is middle of the road but they are rugged machines, solid chassis etc.

Had a Dell for 4 years in the Angolan bush, which my baby sister at varsity now uses. The battery is just about dead (holds no more than 10 minutes charge) but she manages well (going strong to cum (cum laude :) ) her degree...sorry bragging) so I have respect for Dell too.

IMO go for either Dell or HP.

As said before, this totally depends on what you like personally, from my experience I have concluded the following:

HP = Good product but cheap look and feel
Dell = Good product with good support and "better looks"
Lenovo = Good product but fugly designs

(This is my personal experience only - don't shoot me lol)

Something else to consider for corporates is BBBEE come into play somehow with choosing brands.

Yeah I have to agree. We just got our 3 year laptop refresh at work and had our Dell's were replaced with HP's - the HP's are really cheap and nasty looking - they are lit like Christmas trees and the buttons don't even seem to fit properly.
I loved my Dell and have 2 others at home for personal use.
I just like the look and feel of them - and the parts are very easily available.

Well my whole company...the lower managements uses dell, higher managements use levono IBM.

Then I went to GE Healthcare, I never seen so many Del D620 being used at one time...only in warehouses.

This is in China.

Though I've seen more HPs being used in companys in Taiwan...along with Acer and Asus

I second that. Dell is not the greatest in line of reliability, but you can count on excellent support when you need it.
