One of my clients is streaming content using Netflix but the streaming on Afrihost is sucking a tad so looking for a new ISP.

Any of you guys streaming from Netflix and if so which ISP are you using?

Mweb, my dns settings are 74.207.242.213 and having so issues whatsoever :D

Segg how are your speeds? Using a strongVPN connection on a 10mb openweb connection and i very selfdom exceed 2mb.

My breakout is san fransisco if that has anything to do with it

Having issues with Netflix on MWeb :-/

My client is connecting to Netflix server in California which has a 350ms ping and Speedtest to California gives us 0.5mb

So looking at changing ISP's but no idea which one to choose (Home or Business package), could a couple of you guys do a speedtest to California and post a link here, also include your ISP and package you are on.

This thread is fairly meaningless without any mention of line speeds...

I'm using a MWeb 10mb Uncapped account, line is sync'ing at 6mb and getting 350ms, 0.5mb download speed with no other traffic on the line. This is a speedtest to California which is where Netflix is streaming from.

I found an article on the net saying there are Netflix servers available in EU now, these would most probably give much better speeds but haven't as yet found how to connect to them.

My client is using http://www.unotelly.com

I'm running with a 2mbps mweb uncapped (premium account, not the new throttled accounts) line and it streams pretty damn well. Also Unotelly. Its a bit fussy in the beginning, but clears up really damn well after about a minute.
Its so good I actually just upgraded to a 4mb line, will give that a go once I've upgraded mweb data too.

I speak under correction but I suspect the EU servers will point to Netflix UK which has slightly different content to Netflix US
If you use unblock-us.com you will have the ability to select UK or US Netflix.

I have found Mweb to be the best, using a DNS proxy and not a VPN
What DNS are you using? And are you using US or UK netflix?

I have just upgraded to a 4mb line and account with mweb and its not much better than my 2mb account. Which is pretty strange. SO I'm wondering whether its the region (US vs UK netflix), or the DNS?

I'm using unblock-us VPN (Feed the DNS entries into the router), and then I use openweb gold account. Streaming in HD no problems!

I also need to add, not all netflix clients behave the same. I tried netflix client on PS3 and xbox, and did not get very good results. On my notebook it streams HD no problem. I bought the apple tv last week, and the netflix client is FAR superior than the xbox and ps3 ones. It also does the streaming and HD footage a pleasure!

DaBump what line speed are you on?

Anyone streaming netflix/hulu through unotelly on openweb on a 4mb line?

I have a 10 meg line, but using 6 meg openweb gold ISP, and that is more than adequate. I still play games, watch youtube on my notebook while the wife and kids do the netflix thing. I'm sure 4 meg line, with a very good ISP (like openweb) will give awesome results

So what's the verdict here?

I find I can only get 2 bars max (on my Xbox - it has 4 settings, 1 is bad, 2 is pretty good SD, 4 is HD) using 4mbps mweb uncapped and Unotelly DNS. THis is to US netflix, I haven't tried UK netflix.

I find it strange that I can't get any faster, I can stream 720p youtube on mweb no problem 90% of the time.
