Hi

I have a 13" MBP with 128GB SSD and 8GB RAM, i5 methinks. I also have an iPhone 5.

MBP is going to my son soon, after I have bought a Mac for home use. I was thinking of getting an iMac 27" with i5 quad Haswell and 16GB RAM. Or will a Mac mini i7 quad work better? It will be used for mixed computing needs by three home office users, office apps plus some photo & video editing. It will also be fitted with Mac Server.

I was thinking of getting MBA Haswell for use on short business trips, i.e. one-day visits to OR Tambo from Cape Town. The battery life being the drawcard here. My son says it will frustrate me as they use Mac at his office, a media/entertainment company. The MBP I desire would be very expensive, around R25k, so the MBA Haswell seems a better buy.

I am not the tablet type.

Being new to Mac, I do not know what to expect from these machines. Already, my MBP and my iPhone have difficulty in getting connected wirelessly and it won't pair via BT either, saying that the iPhone 5 with iOS7 is "not supported."

Advice, anyone?

Hmmm, firstly, sounds like you need some tech support. My iPhone5 syncs seamlessly via wireless to my iMac and my MBP. I have the 13" MBP Retina Haswell, and it is fantastic - well under the 25K mark and quite light. MacBook Air is also a fantastic machine, and if you're travelling often, its very worth while.

27" iMac is very expensive and from what you say your usage is a Mac Mini will do the trick. Why not look at the 21" iMac? It's a good compromise, and also an excellent machine with a very good screen attached.

Guess the main question is How heavy is your video editing? Are you a Final Cut Pro user or just a iMovie user?

OK, I have no experience on either iMovie or Final Cut pro but it will most definitely be the lesser one. I think that the Mac Mini will do as a Phillips 27" or 29" LED (the latter with split screen) will cost way less. 21" iMac is a tad small as I need lots of real estate to work on.

For now, the iPhone is OK without BT or WLAN but I will take it back some time. It is only 3 weeks old and already is a replacement of the original one that was bought by end of April, also gave trouble and took six weeks for Apple to finally replace. I don't want to get angry again this year, so I leave it for 2014 to sort out. USB sync works well, meanwhile.

What exactly is the Wireless problem?

Like I said in the other thread start by upadonf your machine to Mavericks.

What are you trying to accomplish via Bluetooth? Is your problem pairing the devices or actually doing something specific after pairing.

I think you should just go back to Dell like you already stated, because you are too set in your ways to ever change and therefore Apple logic will forever be **** to you.

Either an Ignoramus or Troll; I somehow suspect a bit of both.
