I've been checking online for the mobile data deals that are cheap. Now I'm looking for a mobile data deal that is at least 10GB. These are the top 3 so far that I've seen:

  • Afrihost has a double data deal ( 5GB + 5GB) which you get if you sign up for Afrihost Plus I believe it would cost around R397.
  • Axxess has a double data deal (8GB + 8GB) which you can get for R499. The big plus is the data rollover.
  • Telkom has SmartInternet 15GB (15GB night surfer) Promo for R399.

Are there other deals I'm missing here that I could consider? Which of these would you recommend?

Njabulo, I'd recommend that you check the level of their service (network coverage) in your area. Some service providers just put out products but then have very shoddy signal. And this applies to cellular coverage as well, funny enough.

Once you have tested who has the better network coverage for where you foresee yourself spending the most time, then that would be the best place to start looking as a first option.

I agree with Envo that cheapest is always a good way to start off, but cheapest (where mobile data or things Tech are concerned) does not translate to best value for money. Unless it really is a good deal.

This: Axxess and Afrihost both live on MTN's network but I cannot comment on prioritised service or anything like that. Simply put, if you have acceptable MTN service, you should have acceptable Axxess / Afrihost service.

I have found Telkom's service to be less than satisfactory but if you get a starter pack and check their signal and your throughput, you can decide for yourself.

I'd stick with the former two though and of these, Afrihost's offering probably is the better simply because Axxess's double data won't last forever while the Afrihost will with that plus account. Unless you don't think you will use up all the data, then go for Axxess - that carryover is decent and if they drop their double data, you won't be in contract so you could simply cross the road to afrihost.

Thanks for the comments, I'll have to test Telkom Mobile network coverage as GreGorGy suggested. Cell C has good deals it's a pity because their network coverage is really bad from where I stay and where I work.
