It looks like a standard USB memory stick. It says 2.4Ghz and, MX1100R on the side.

One thing I can say that seems to be a known issue is a bit of lag if you move the cursor very slightly, it's fine when you're moving the mouse with a normal pace, but if you're doing very fine work, like really trying to move just 1 pixel across, it's a bit wonky, but I fixed that by just running an extension cable and placing the USB receiver behind my monitor.

My PC sits under the desk in a corner, so it's probably that that's causing the lag anyway, it's quite out of reach from the mouse.
 
oh btw, I'm still between graphics cards, currently on a Geforce 7300GS while I await for my Radeon 5850.. *sigh* so I can't really comment on battery life until I've had a while with gaming.

Though I've used it extensively this week and have played a bit of Quake 3 quite a bit to test-drive.
 
By unifying I'm talking about the mini sized wireless adapter logitech is pushing these days. It's just a wireless USB stick, very low profile, and one can add more logitech devices to it.

I've been getting that lag with the BT mouse from time to time. On previous machine the adapter sat right at the mouse so never had the issue. I'm after a TrendNet bluetooth adapter, the class 1 item to see if that will get better signal. Logitech's wireless/BT adapters just don't seem to have enough power getting by things. I might just order a BT adapter from dealextreme and give that a go.

I'm trying to get rid of cabling, but right now I have the BT adapter also on a leash sitting on my desk. Guess I'll think about the MX1100R again because I'm really not keen on yet another thing dangling off the machine.

Less clutter or more comfort... ? :( Oh well, maybe I should just get a USB hub and prop it on the desk.
 
Are bluetooth mice any good? My THinkpad has a bluetooth 2.0 controller and I'd like to get a decent mouse to work with it, so I don't need a dongle but the last BT mouse I used was 10x worse than a ball mouse.

I assume they've improved by now? Not for serious gaming, just work + bit of Quake3 :)
 
Sometimes they are, sometimes not. :) More often than not it comes down to the BT software stack used. In XP pre-SP2 the Widcomm or other stack will be needed, but w/ SP2 Microsoft added native BT support but only functional with some BT transceivers. If your notebook came with XP & SP2 then there'll be no problem.

Win7 with BT no hassle whatsoever, even with Logitech. I prefer it as I already have a BT desktop set and I am not interested in adding more dongle thingies to my machine.

Which BT mouse did you have?
 
Yeah, XP really ruined my perception of bluetooth, though I guess back then it was in it's infancy stage, cellphones, bluetooth, early XP.. plurrgh.

The BT mouse was some old M$ one I dug up from a storeroom somewhere and cleaned up and got working, but it was kark, tho it was prob a version 1 :D

Yeah, I've used BT in Win7 RC1 with stock drivers and everything and using it with my phone for files/modem etc; and it's very nice.

But I won't buy a 'notebook mouse' I don't have big hands, but a tiny mouse, like boobs, is not comfy in the hand(s).
 
Folks... I'm in the mood to spend money today again. I'm seriously considering picking up the phone and ordering a MX1100R. I really shouldn't, but I have the urge.

Convince me otherwise. I've got a MX1000 at home. It's BT. This MX1100R isn't. I'm just facing the fact old Logitech isn't going to BT this mouse nor is it worthwhile waiting for them to offer it on the unified receiver.

Those who have one, how comfy is it? Do you still find your pinky and ring finger lie dragging on the mousepad? I see reviews indicate it isn't the biggest mouse, but the extension on the right hand side offers more resting space.

Should I? Shouldn't I?

Hmmm... I don't like it. Just kidding. Currently have it on my desk here at work next to a Cooler Master mouse and a bluetooth MX900. I dug the MX900 up last night... my god, did I ever use this thing? 2x NiMH batteries... the thing weighs a ton.

Running the thing next to the logitech bluetooth hub and no interference. Sweet. Will see what happens at home.

And this mouse is still too small for my hand.

Wow... just tried out the scroll wheel thingy... have I been wanting this for ages.

On both mice I never had the pinky dragging on the mousepad/table but I do curl mine a bit, gets a little sore during hours of intense gaming, but that's mostly the gripping I guess.

It's still hands down one of the nicest rodents out there IMHO. I felt the G9, friend got one on special but I really didn't like the hands on feel.

Hope you like the MX1100R, give us feedback :)
 
Yeah, should've PM'd you. I think left-hand users and large-handed users will never find a proper mouse. This one does fall more comfortably in one's hand than the MX1000. And that 1600DPI setting is, well, twice as good as the MX1000. :) Actually, it's going to take some getting used to because my wrist is used to larger flicks to get the MX1000 and others to where they need to be.

The one physical thing they could've done better is a more flexible cable though. This is just a standard USB cable, right? Will look around for a nice flexible and slightly longer one. Running Setpoint 4, but it doesn't pick up the mouse so haven't changed settings yet.

Short while on it already and I'm definitely liking this though. I cannot fathom how responsive the greater DPI items, like the latest Razors, must be.
 
The USB cable is not standard, I thought it was - but look at the end, it looks like a mini USB jack but it's got a lil' nodge so it doesn't fall out when gaming while charging, tho tbh I won't use the cable since I charge 2x batteries at a time and have one spare. Or you can pull one out from the camera, remote, vibrating sheep etc;

I leave mine on (I think) 600DPI, as the highest one just ends up with my cursor going at the speed of a chipmunk on benzine.

Use your MX1100R and try go back to the MX1000 after a week.. straaaange :D

Btw, had mine for ~3 weeks now, haven't needed to charged it yet. Using a rechargable GP 2300mAh battery.
 
I checked the cable when I got home and, ja, it's a custom number.

Running setpoint 4.8 at home and 4.24 at the office. Mouse felt better at the office when setpoint didn't pick it up. Will have to play with the settings.

The MX1000 has a better balance to it since it doesn't have the AA battery but a sealed lithium one. Seems I'm getting picky about all sorts of things in my old age. :D

Might have to let the skates wear a bit before it feels normal. Had the teflon skates on the MX1000, they made a massive difference. Nice to see the teflon items on the MX1100R and they are replaceable too.
 
Don't really have an issue with balance, how do you mean?

The replacement feet I got for my MX1000 were the Slicksurf ones, http://www.slicksurf.com/ and they are still in great shape, I'll try get the same kind for the MX1100R

Okay I checked Setpoint, battery now says it needs a charge, so I'm guessing 2-4 weeks, tho this is an old battery (i've used it in my cam for 3 years now) so it's probably a bad example. Still, the ease of replacing the batt is a non-issue for me.

Btw, with the MX1000, you can buy a replacement Kodak camera battery and replace it, it's a DIY job but is quite easy, something for a rainy day.

Btw, did you notice the thumb button? It took me a week to discover it :D I'm also super happy with the wheel and it's clickyness, that's something I had issues with on the 1000.
 
Ok, just switched setpoint back to using OS implementation of mouse speed. Right, so best just to leave it at 600DPI then. :D
 
I have some spare mouse skates/feet somewhere, don't recall the brand now. Only ever needed 1 set and they're doing perfectly if not better with age. They smooth off a bit on the Razer mousemat.

You can probably save a bundle on that battery and order online. Should be a li-ion or li-po battery. I still need to order in some 5000-10,000mAh battery so might just get a spare for the MX1000. It's battery life is much shorter than it used to be, but still goes about 4-5 days on a charge.

Gotta admit, I did prefer seeing the 3 LED bars for battery life on the MX1000.

Yes, I was aware of the thumb button. :) Was actually looking at it in reviews wondering why Logitech only offer the 2 buttons on the side and no app button like on the MX1000.

When I got back to the office this afternoon from Frontosa, check e-mail, and suddenly 2 ads from them for the Performance Mouse MX and the Anywhere Mouse MX. Happens all the time.
