Using Olive oil...but the cost is annoying me & not at all convinced its the real deal given the rampant fraud in this area.

What other oils do you use for cooking?

Thought of getting some canola but it tastes nasty.

Coconut oil is great, the best quality to price ratio for extra virgin olive oil, by a large margin, is the local Sa direct from farm olive oil, Spar and pnp seems to have a few of them. Willow Creek is the one local good one I have used.

The test is in the taste, always taste it, true extra virgin cold pressed first pressing olive oil has an amazing grassy peppery taste, it actually tastes good just on its own, a nice spoon full. Then try have a spoon full of cheap olive oil, you'll soon have a very good idea of what is the real deal inside the bottle and what is just labelled as being the real deal.

I presume you know the history behind Canola Oil? Canola oil is bottom of the list of options you should be considering.

I use Coconut oil and Olive oil.
This list seems to suggest coconut is full of saturated fats?

Can't get anything but imported here. Don't particularly trust it given that 70% of olive oil is said to be fake. :( Will keep it for salads but need something for cooking duties.

Whats the full name of it?

Anybody have any experience with Avocado or Grapeseed?

Why is that a problem?

Edit: I use olive oil (Tokara, Willow Creek, Morgenster are all good) for dressing and sometimes frying. I tend to eat quite a bit of coconut oil too - if I'm cooking with it or just eating it like that mixed raw with a few other ingredients.

Maybe try macadamia oil?

Macadamia nut oil is awesome, imparts a subtle nutty flavour.

You get good and bad saturated fats, coconut has all the good ones.

Health effects are disputed - ranging from no effect to dangerous depending on who you believe:
A lot of modern-day discussion around it is quite different from the USDA-food-pyramid era of nutrition where all fats were vilified despite the nuances between them. There's been a similar progression in attitude toward dietary cholesterol.

I wouldn't be concerned about the small amount you'll use in cooking unless you have a health condition that's particularly sensitive to it.
+1 to macadamia.

Canola is a genetically modified variant of rapeseed.
All seed oils are full of toxic omega 6.
First I hear of it. Millions of people use it with no ill side effects. In fact I searched and basically found this:

Is canola oil “toxic,” as many people warn?

No. The confusion involves erucic acid, a substance in traditional rapeseed that has been linked with structural changes in heart tissues and other problems in animals. But canola has been specifically bred to be very low in erucic acid. In 1981, several hundred deaths in Spain were linked to food-grade rapeseed oil—but it turned out the oil (mislabeled as “olive oil”) was contaminated with an industrial solvent that was being used illegally.

Despite the long-standing safety of canola oil, the Internet is still awash with rumors that it causes all kinds of maladies. There has never been any evidence to support these claims. According to the EPA, canola oil’s “toxicological profiles are similar to those of other vegetable oils that are used as food.”

eh...link to new science then? Might as well update wiki while I'm at it.
I just received a 50 foot container of snake oil for one of my large clients. It's highly lucrative and has many health benefits and highly sought after medicinal properties.

It is also a natural Viagra, and so is hard to cum by.

If you are keen, I might be convinced to let a few cases "fall off the truck" for a small fee.
