Anyone know of any good P2P software that actually finds stuff, with lots of members and fast downloads?

I have used Kazaa about 4 years ago over a dail-up and it worked very well and have not since used any p2p software...but the bug has bitten me again now that I have an unshaped ADSL account. But I see Kazaa nowadays mostly brings up, files for sale

Any suggestions appreciated. thx

Most people use torrents these days

www.utorrent.com ( a torrent file downloading application)

Just google let's say, linux distro torrent, and it should give you the torrent file.

Some torrent sites:
www.mininova.org
www.isohunt.com

I guess some people still use P2P, I used shareaza and kazaa on dialup as well, but for some reason it is the most useless thing on ADSL ( I r not knowing why) And I've got ports forwarded.

Then again, if you've got ADSL the IS newsserver is cool as well (If it works)

:D ;)

Torrents are by far the best system. You are able to get new things very quick, and it's easy to identify proper quality things. The only problem is you need torrents with many seeds in order to get good speeds. The other bad thing is, you have to upload, especially on private trackers as you need to keep a ratio

When I can't find something I use Frostwire (based on LimeWire as it's Open Source) which is on the Gnutella network, but I don't use this often.

Newsgroups are every bit as good as torrents and there's no upload to worry about and no intentionally corrupted files.

The only down side is a good international news server costs around r70 per month.

Thanks

Thanks Guys,

I'm using torrents now. I get good search results and very good download speeds (mind you the upload speed are not bad either :( )

The only bad thing is, it suddenly struck me just how little a 1Gig account is...

cheers

Happy with Bitcomet now. Bittorent used to rock and outperform it but somehow lost the settings or capability and does not feature for me right now!

Have them all loaded tho!

ha... im use limewire. to me thats the best one, i download every whether its music, music videos or porn

Kick-ass!

Anyway, I would recommend torrents above P2P if it wasnt for the uploads needed.. in SA we cant realy afford that. Anyway, it is usually easy to spot the exact same torretn content on P2P's. Most of the good quality torrent fiels are made by teams, so any music you want will have an "-qxtmp3" or "-mdr" or whatever suffix attatched to every file name, it will also usually be ripped in VBR. Then you know it is a good quality rip that is as good or better than what you get on a torrent.

The same goes for movies, anyway after a while it becomes easy to tell good quality files, so P2P doesnt always mean bad quality rips, whenever I download newCD's fom Soulseek ( a great music P2P) I always get team rips.

killadoob check the reply I posted to your question in the "IS news server down" thread.

And for those of you who love p2p and torrents so much, I say stick to it! Less traffic on the news servers for the rest of us :p
