Hi, am looking at one of these. Motorola MB525, samsung galxaxy ace or samsung galaxy S (i9000). or maybe a BB. cannot make my mind up. i am on a anytime 200 package.

like this
Galaxy S (even old the phone is still one of the best)> Galaxy Ace > Moto MB525 >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> BB

what he said.

The SGS is MILES ahead of the other fones you mentioned

Newer (which means more support) from a more trustworthy name and though the specs are similar the Ace is likely faster due to the lower res.

Best phone for now is the Xiaomi Phone, but I dont think Vodacom or MTN will be getting them

R2200 for:
1.5 GHz Dualcore Snapdragon + Adreno 220 GPU
480 x 854 4" Display
1930mAh Battery
1 Gig Ram/ 4 Gig rom + MicroSD
8Mp camera with dedicated camera button.

Build by Foxconn same people that build the iPhone, makes this a phone that will even kick the SGS 2 back side.

True, on the conversion that is. I normally (US Price X 14) to get SA sales pricing.

If you can get someone to bring you one from Hong Kong it will cost US$310 ie: R2200, else you have to add some $$$ for shipping

not just shipping
I'm into computers and we routinely pay double and sometimes almost tripple what the americans pay on graphics cards for instance and that frequently happens with all electronics.

depends on what you want.

do you chat and email all the time? then go bb.

otherwise go Android.
Is the galaxy S2 out of your price range?

Sent from my HTC Desire using Tapatalk

Correction:
do you chat and email all the time and don't care that your phone is otherwise a useless slow outdated overpriced hunk of junk that can't do anything? then go bb

just want somthing that is no slouch and can withstand some droptests. I just do calls, sms & take some pics. Emails i do on the pc & laptop. Also internet on pc. Don't enjoy surfing on a small screen.

I can get the mb525 for R209 / month with 75mb data on anytime 200. I see i can also get the Atrix for R299 with 75mb data. Mtn is not getting the Defy+. don't really need a phone like the atrix as am possible getting an ipad2.

Get the Atrix anyway, it will get Ice Cream Sandwich update, and should keep you happier for the next 22months thanks to its great hardware.
You can get the Atrix, and go cold turkey on smartphone forum, come back same time 2013 and it still wont that bad, whilest Defy will be completely outdated.

bro its easy, I won't ever buy a Samsung even if its Android OS coz Samsung phones are fault ridden through personal experience, 2ndly BB is straight up the most cost-effective. Ask yourself what's more important, internet usage VS top quality phone ie BB VS the others. Hear me out the BB Bold is top notch, the I9000 is a piece of crap coz it got no flash so don't expect to be searching for things in the dark let alone take photos. Get an HTC straight, I got a Desire and spend 60 bucks a week on airtime which is killing me but am really tempted to get a BB Curve purely coz it lasts longer for one and airtime is saved! Don't forget the battery life is poor on these big new phones, a huge screen like the I9000 takes a lot of juice! I get maybe 6-8 hours on my Desire but I Google often. The BB Bold is the most balanced phone, I just don't know about the apps available.

Why not go for the Samsung G S II on Vodacom for 249 pm?

BB doesn't have free internet, you pay 60 rand a month and cant watch YouTube, Vodacom is in the process of capping BB users when they hit 100MB, I presume the other service providers will be doing the same at some stage.

The first Galaxy S was not so great, The S II is amazing, it scores over 3000 points on Quadrant, I don't like how Samsung skinned Android but that's what LauncherPro is for.
The Galaxy S shoots full 1080p video, my tablet with dualcore nVidia Tegra2 lags when I try play the videos but the SGSII plays them flawlesssly. (although this could be a general honeycomb problem that might be sorted out one day)

If anyone had to play with the SGSII and try it out and see the amazing 4.3" Super AMOLED Plus screen in that 9mm body weighing in at 127 grams there is no way in hell any sane person would choose any other phone. The screen tech is actually the best atm, not even the Nexus Prime will have the AMOLED "Plus".

The only phone that I prefer is the RAZR Droid which is water proof and dust proof; the back is made from kevlar and it's 7mm thick.
