There are so many on Google.
If you have experience please share.
I want to work from various computers but want my office desktop to be the main archive.
In other words my emails - Outlook- must be the master . The same with Pastel.
I want to use other computers to work on the office desk top.
Thanks.

On XP, there's nothing wrong with using the built-in Remote Desktop feature if you're only working on LAN. I've used Real VNC as an alternative when I have to access older OS' like Windows 2000 which does not have the Remote Desktop functionality.

To access a PC on your LAN remotely via the internet, I use LogMeIn.

been using logmein for about 2 years and have not had a single problem with the free tool. Hamachi is also a good software vpn.

+1

Logmein is a winner... it just works... and it works well. and their prices for their Pro version are now very reasonable.

I use UltraVNC (also free) and haven't had any problems.

We use a combination of remote desktop and Dameware Mini Remote Control.

The benefits of dameware being you can connect and install the service remotely (if you have admin access to thier PC) then connect and take contol of the users current session; rather than having to log them out. This is extremely valuable in the corporate environment.

Real/Tight/Ultra VNC also work quite well, but do not allow remote install of the viewer service.

I have in interesting requirement now; I need a user to be able to view video via remote desktop; so I need the refresh rate to be a minimum of about 16fps. Has anyone seen any viable solutions for doing something like this?

Logmein FTW!

Only problem I had with it, was when I tried to access my friend's pc, that had Vista on.
I know nothing about Vista! :p
