Well, I started playing on a realm by the name of "Drak 'Thul". Got to level 10, all happily enjoying my class, only to find out that this english speaking realm was 99% Czech. I was not very impressed, more depressed tbh :p.

Now I rather dislike playing on a low pop realm, even though people say you will get lower latency. The poor ah prices along with lack of supplies and lesser grouping etc, are enough to make me join a high pop realm.

So I did just that, I created a character on a high pop realm. Could some people here give me advice as to what the benefits are vs a low pop realm? So essentially high pop vs low pop - you may begin:D. Thanks

Some recommendations for horde would be great!

Should mention that if I ping a europe location i get average 250ms. Using the TcpAck registry fix, I get about 510ms. Should I be getting lower?

High pops mean
1:Economies that work. They're generally competitive, prices are reasonable.
2:Higher prevalence of raid guids, making it easier to coast along on the shoulders of others, get into pug raids etc.
3:Sometimes laggy. Maybe queues.

Low pops mean
1:Weird economies. Possibility to corner a market, but also not find the materials you need, or for them to be overpriced.
2:Lower prevalence of progression guilds, making them ideal if you want to start your own and make a name for yourself. Pug raiding probably not an option.
3:Not laggy. Never a queue.

They both have their pros and cons.

I find the rp-pvp realms to be the best. They give a good balance of world-pvp; (more) mature players; and tend to be (more) english speaking.

I have horde characters on Ravenholdt and alliance on Defias (probably would have been all Defias but there used to be a restriction on pvp servers).

I play on Scarshield Legion, and am thoroughly enjoying myseld ( RP-PvP )

If you'd like, join us and I'll help you start off ( Gold, some bags, etc ) Drop me a PM with your character name and stuff. ( I am on Horde side, but I can transfer stuff to alliance easily enough )

Thanks for all the comments, decided against a high pop realm as my latency was climbing most of the time.

I must admit I also enjoy RP PvP servers. Scarshield Legion is pretty balanced in terms of pvp etc. The only SA player I knew on the horde side was Paragon. Not sure what his Tauren druid was called, but I'm stoked to see you do the same as us by welcoming new players with a starter kit (Gold + bags) to get them going.

I've always enjoyed world pvp events ... the only hordies I tend to stay away from with my rogue are Paladins, DK's ... and that mage, Castelyn. Moofasa the druid is also not bad. Very good PvPerand I enjoy seeing him in action, from the sideline. Moofasa is also quite good.

Levelling on a lower pop realm can be a good thing. There might be more lower level people around to group with, esp if it'sa new realm, and ever since cross realm lfg even if there aren't, you can still run instances with ppl from other realms. And if you get to 80, want to raid but cant find a guild on your server, you can transfer.

From my point of view, it feels like Scarshield Legion is slowly dying away...

Since the merge with the germans, "proper" PvP Battlegrounds is almost non-existent, unless you're a WSG/AB fanatic.
I haven't seen a SotA, IoC or AV in progress for weeks.

Raiding wise, we are so far behind most of the other realms it's not even funny.

The only thing keeping me on SSL is the people/friends I've made over the years, other than that I can't think of anything beneficial which can't be found on another "better/healthier" realm.

I'm not much into PvP at all. I think I've done SotA once in my life...the rest all at lvl 70 last. I only do WG now and then...but other than that...

What VindicatoR said.

Im on Scarshield Legion, and PVP sucks but is not all that bad if you work with premades. We do pretty well in WG when we want to. Our battlegroup is a bit heavy but I dig the competition.

Voicy, would love to fight your rogue with both my frost mage and ehancement shaman :D

On Scarshield there are some pretty good people and loads of South Africans.. .I dig it and am not really interested in moving.

I would vote to be moved into a different battlegroup though. I went and made a horde hunter on the same server to twink in pvp... and I found that Horde are not winning as often as I used to remember in the lower levels.

Ive started on emeriss. Going to see how it goes there. On another note, what do you guys think of the new Soul Drain sound effect? Rather interesting :D

Horde is no longer the PVP faction. Not since Every Man For Himself. Now PVP is dominated by humans and their crazy anime hair.

lol @ crazy anime hair :P. Skurm, which class would you reckon is the best/most fun for end-game. I pretty much enjoy every class other than Rogue and Priest. Currently leveling a lock :)

I started a warrior, didn't get far though. I'll rather get another class I enjoy to 80 first and then get heirloom gear for the warrior. Got him to level 10, but it was just too painful to continue leveling.

Dude, that's like asking how long is a piece of string. I mean I can offer you my personal opinion but it will be worth no more or less than anyone else's. The enjoyment you get from this game is entirely subject. Each and every class and each and every spec offers something enjoyable.

But, for the sake of why the hell not... personally? I like hitting things with big swords and laughing uncontrollably afterwards, so I'm enjoying my warrior alt and my death knight main. The warrior *IS* geared up in like 5 heirloom items though, which makes it a lot more fun. And the DK is pushing some great numbers in raids (lol 13K on trash last night) and is the ultimate superhero soloist class. Playing a dps DK 'feels' nice. It's kinda hard to explain why. It's very interactive. I've come to enjoy it.

I think, though, for the first time playing through? In my case, it was a hunter that got me hooked. Running around pewpewing stuff and fiddling with pets and everything was a blast. Like playing Pokemon. I choose you, Devilsaur!

I've been playing since April '08 and I only have 1 char above lvl 18. (lvl 60 DK doesn't count) and that's my rogue.

I absolutely LOVE the abilities of the rogue when it comes to general exploring and faffing about. I battled to play a character who can't stealth after that.

Even for raiding, it's really cool being the one to slip in unnoticed and sap mobs or interrupt spell casters etc. while still topping the DPS log. The only 2 things that suck is when you have to keep running from a boss. Your dps suffers ... but the ultimate suckage is when a hunter rolls (and wins) on every possible piece of loot you could roll on...and there are always more hunters than rogues around.

I thought rogues wore leather? why would a hunter be rolling for leather?

PS voicy, see my previous post about a duel.

Afaik with the new content rogues are doing orsm on the dps charts.

Leather can be good for hunters. Same stats that a rogue needs - agi, ap, crit, armour pen. The actual armour value matters squat in raiding. It's why you'll see fury warriors sometimes wearing chain and leather.

Because they're artards!

They are ranged and don't require much armor...yet rogues are melee and have even less armor. Makes no sense.

I'm going to start rolling on hunter bows...just to piss them off for rolling on my items that have expertise...or ninja'ing my daggers just for the stats. I honestly don't get it. Hunters can use ANY weapon. Mutilate rogues ONLY use daggers, but they still out roll me.

As for your duel ... you'll no doubt p00n me 6-love, but it'll be fun, I'm sure.
