Which router should I buy?

Starting with 4mbps and if its not enough then will upgrade to 8mbps
 
The W8968 Has a Broadcom BCM6318 processor which usually performs better on long noisy telephone lines. If you think you are going to upgrade your linespeed in the near future then that is probably a better choice. Takealot was selling it a few weeks ago for R399 on a Daily Deals special.

I have been pretty happy with my Tenda router which uses the same Broadcom processor and sells for a lot less. You should be able to purchase the D301 for R315 from Russ-Al PCs or slightly more from GeeWiz. I don't see it listed on their website today but you can just e-mail them if you are interested. The D301 also has a USB port but does not support 3G modems like the W8968.

Honestly I reckon the cheapest one will do for most people. If you need the wifi to be super reliable at long distances or if you have a massive family all using the wifi at the same time, then you'll probably need a more expensive one. However, if you live in a regular apartment and it's just you who will be using it mostly: then just get the cheapest. I've been running quite happily on the free Telkom router (a D-Link fyi) I got three years ago and it works fine: speed tests prove that it manages to deliver all the capacity in my line (usually around 8.5 on a 10 Meg line).
 
TP-Link WD8968N is a good, basic router. I swear by them. The dual-antenna is awesome. I don't lose WiFi connectivity at any point, regardless of where I am in the house.
 
Same here. Using an Aztech something router, and its performing pretty well.

I suppose if you want alot of features etc, then you might have to get an expensive one. However, for your basic needs, a cheaper router will be okay.

I would also like to know what sort of router to buy i have my 10meg line installed now but i basically want it to run at a full speed all the time if thats even possible and would it help to buy a router that can basically allow more speed then the speed of your line?

My 2 choices - TP-Link ; Trendnet --- thus far

Do not buy ASUS please.
Asus N10-DSL - what a piece of junk. Every little change needs a restart. Mine also got very hot and it also eventually didnt work anymore, no LEDs come on.

I have used
TRENDnet TEW-658BRM | N300 Wireless ADSL 2/2+
TP-LINK N300 Wireless Modem Router TD-W8961N
TP-LINK AC750 -> ADSL VDSL and FIBRE ready

Have to be honest these are all TOP modems never hang WIFI and ADSL always work.
Interface of the Trendnet for me is much more better and appealing to that of the aforementioned TP-Link's interfaces/web pages.

Agree this is a good modem, expect when it gets hit by lightning.
Its a good modem,mine never hung at all.
