So we currently have a tplink TD-W8960N which worked fine on our 5mbps wireless link, until my wife spilt her wine all over it and it stopped working....luckily i have a spare.

I want to replace the spare - or shall i say have a spare and i was thinking about this one

tplink - TL-WR940N - R489 at makro - our current one costs R600

or shall i go bigger and better - ie 5ghz wireless C?

Well, if you are on a tight budget and want 5Ghz as well then go with this one...

Nice, I didn't see they had the AC10 yet.

wow that is a monster! Makes sense to get one of those...good price too!

Do you care about the wired aspect at all i.e do you need to have gigabit Ethernet, if you're only really using it for the Wi-Fi you should just get the Tenda AC6, that being said, personally I'd go with the AC10U anyway and you'll be set for even 100Mbps+ fibre.

Soul Assasin makes a good point - no i dont need gigabit ethernet - as we just use wifi - ac6 is perfect!
