Hi all

I need to purchase a light laptop for travel purposes. I went to Incredible Connection who showed me this Acer Aspire V5 http://www.incredible.co.za/product/87524/acer-aspire-v5-132p-21294g50nss/

They also had this HP http://www.incredible.co.za/product/87516/hp-pavilion-11-n010sn-x360-pc/

I liked the form factor of this V5 and the fact that it had a touchscreen, it looks very professional and upmarket so to speak. I was not that impressed with it's processor and only 2 USB ports. I then came across this Acer http://www.dionwired.co.za/laptops/acer-acer-e3-111-c9aj-celeron-silver.html which has one more USB port and an HDMI port as well. The salesperson said it was a newer model and it seems more powerful but I thought I would ask for some assistance on which one seems to be the better buy.

Of high importance is it's battery life and a decent processor, seeing as I will mostly use it for emails and word processing/excel processing, the occasional video or two and to run programs specific to my company.

Thanks in advance!

This might interest you. First time I heard of the company but found the thread while browsing mybb today.

What kind of battery life are you expecting from an ultraportable? These aren't Ultrabooks, they're not going to last anything over five hours.

I'd recommend looking at something with AMD's Temash silicon if you're not keen on spending too much on what essentially amounts to a netbook. Acer's Aspire V5-122P should be a good fit and it's a better performer than Intel's Bay Trail. The backlit keyboard makes me want it even though my current Aspire One is good enough for what I do with it. Acer bundles in a mini-Displayport-to-VGA connector and at some point they can issue a firmware update to turn that mini-DP into a Dockport connector.

Now that is not a bad specced vivobook at all. Do you have any purchaae experience with wootware by any chance?
Yup, Wootware is one of the great online stores. Bought various components from them in the past. Great service.

You can pop them a mail and ask if the product is available before purchase.

Hi Wesley. You seem rather clued up on these things, what is the difference between an ultraportable and an ultrabook? Battery wise I'm looking for something around 5 hours but extra is always appreciated. Cost is another area of importance, but that I will judge after finding out what this ultrabook is.

Awesome, they seem very competitive price wise. Will give them a shout, thanks!
