It's the Polo that's a hijack risk, not all Volkswagens.
 
The amount of Cherry Tiggo 4 Pros on the road is crazy, they’re everywhere! Additionally they’re almost always the mid & top tier models, you don’t see the povo spec models!
 
I drive an older model Duster and absolutely love it. Mines is a manual so cant comment on the auto model. What I can tell you is I recently drove a VW T-Cross as a rental and the 2 are completely different.

The T-Cross is essentially a Polo with raised suspension. I wouldn't call it a SUV. The boot is tiny compared to the duster. The duster is definitely more of a SUV.

In the T-Cross's favor, it does feel more sporty and quicker but this does come at the expense of comfort.
 
I am in the market for a small SUV/Crossover style vehicle. Need a bit more space. I have a Polo Vivo currently.

One of my staff has one for a couple of months now. He loves the spec and overall features of the car. Complaints have been that the boot is small and its heavy on fuel.

Duster is out of stock in SA and not likely to be back before Jan 2023. As per salesman, this is due to Russia-Ukraine issue. Apparently, parts are issue as well.

Midrand seems to have lot of Havals. Chinese car market seems to be booming.

1100L is bull dust yeah. “Up to” what folding the seats flat or what lol
 
You could look for a demo model Suzuki Vitara. You get them in a 1.6 NA and 1.4T with a 6speed auto. The mid range GL+ or GLX would be a good choice. Note this is the flagship Vitara and not the entry level Brezza/Urban Cruiser.

Easily get 6.0L/100km in town and down to about 5.6-5.8 on the open road. Has a 5star Euro Ncap rating and is well put together. Road noise is non existent in these vehicles. They very well insulated. The 1.4T is very nippy due to it being the same motor they use in the Swift Sport. The 1.6 on the other hand is smooth as butter and rock solid. And might be more fuel efficient if you have a heavier foot.

Did some off roading with it and it does very well over rough gravel roads and rocks. I wouldn't join a 4x4 club with it but it's a very capable and comfortable off roader. Especially for a compact suv. It's definitely a little more rugged than a T-Cross, Ecosport, CX3 or Creta.

I do believe it won best compact suv from 2017-2019 in that Wesbank cars.co.za awards.

Only warranty claim that was done since 2019 was a reverse light bulb. Still using factory breaks and tyres. But the tyres are a little pricey at around R2500 for Continentals or Goodyear tyres and R2800 for Michelin.
