Which Stratum Gap Cover?

Anybody able to advise the below means? Some stays at hospital easily go over R200k, so this clause is concerning for me?

Exactly what it says, that is the maximum it will pay out for things listed under that column.

This is a government mandated limit as you see by the statement about the regulator and is therefore the same on all gap covers.

This has always seemed silly to me if you have a little discipline rather just put that money away in a savings pocket.
It’s only silly when you don’t need it, when you do it’s a godsend.
Not to sound insensitive but why not put the doggy down?
Racking up debt/massive expenses with your circumstances is not wise.
Why not put your child down when it’s sick? I mean you don’t want to rack up massive debt.

Oh I also need to get my Dog on a medical plan now at R600 a month as she started developing back problems.

I guess I can't put my mom on that as well. 👿
Best to get your pet on it before you get the problems in their medical record, you will have a minimum of 4 month waiting period.

Our one cat had numerous procedures last year and this year. The costs will make your eyes water.

I weigh the options and consequences and this was the best decision. I have a good reason for it I don't think I need to justify or explain here, besides the obvious emotional connection.

Just using your logic genius. Just because animals are disposable objects to you does not mean they are to others.
Nah you're just a troll trying to get some clout by being offended on someone else's behalf.

The law won't allow me to.

Bit of a necro but I want to mention Gap covers that are underwritten by Turnberry.

Personally, avoid them. Had a procedure for my spouse , authorized under the scheme and portions paid out of risk/hospital, they refused to pay the specialist because it was done in rooms vs pure hospital. I've had this covered before on my gap but somewhere along the way , underwriters changed and now I'm out of pocket after paying for years . Small amount relatively but I'm not going to continue with such a company and have moved to another ( Stratum ).

Be very careful with gap and medical aids pushing for more procedures done in dayclinics/rooms and even if paid out under hospital, gaps may not pay.

Avoid.

Am on the Netcare gap cover. Apart from an issue with a one partial payout for a co-payment (where I gave up explaining) all other claims were paid. They also cover stuff after the MSA has run out like dental and out of hospital specialists (with referral) which has been great and they generally pay within a few days. Just go for the highest plan (500+).

That's weird, with gap cover the benchmark is that the MA covered a portion first and then they'll cover the balance that's out of pocket, whether it’s in hospital or not is besides the point. I’m with Sirago, seems like a good one, not that I've claimed to much but they pay out quickly and all my claims have been for out of hospital stuff.

That is precisely how my claims have worked before but it seems not now.
