Which SUV and why?

I would vote for any Q7. Its power, a hotel on wheels. And long distance driving, a pure pleasure. And TDI (ofcourse)

Look, I've no more experience on that oil sieve (as I hear) than you with a Duster.
For a R440k entry level SUV, I stand by my opinion it is a great car. Does it compare favourably with my X3....well, no, but the X3 is good for a car costing over 2x the Duster.

I've driven both - the Duster for a week or so, and stand by my assessment.

It’s cute that you think driving a second-hand RRS somehow makes you better than the rest of the peasantry. JLR is owned by Tata, firstly. Secondly, I know that most of JLR’s wealthy clientele purchase their vehicles cash: walk in, EFT, walk out. Bank loans are very much a peasantry thing too. But hey, good luck driving around like you’re better than anybody, I’m 100% convinced that those shitbox Dusters you look down on will keep going long after your RRS is on its eight owner trying to look wealthier than they are, and overlooking all the error lights on their dash.

The Duster is a shtbox, that's just the facts of the matter, which doesn't mean it's not a decent vehicle but it's a budget beater.

Dude, nowhere did I proclaim that all 'lesser' cars are shitboxes - just the Duster.

I did not enjoy at all its handling, much less the uncomfortable seats, nor the rough plastics.

Last year I owned a Captur for 3 months, and I think it's a brilliant car.

I also think the CRV is a great option for OP.

OP....alert! I hear they are very good SUV's. A cursory internet check however shows a worrying tendency of losing about R1m of the almost R4m value every year and half. Fairly recent ones can be had for a little more than the price of a mere Duster. I am not enlightened as to why however, so that leaves me guessing.......such a great vehicle....

I also don't get why people take others' opinions of their vehicles so personally.

If someone driving a RR Cullinan claimed that the RRS is a shitbox, I'd be hard-pressed to disagree.

After all, they're just vehicles that get you places. Some do it comfortably, some cheaply, some luxuriously, etc.
