Which Tablet?

Any idea when the 300 will be released?

No clue on release dates, if you have to buy something now get a prime 3G else I would recommend waiting for the other 2. (personally not a big fan of the 1st generation primes)

Still use and love my TF101 and if I compare it to what other tablets can do/and how they lack in support it still kicks butt.

@ M 1 , I can recommend the Asus products as being worth it.

I have a standard Asus Transformer, wireless, no 3G, almost R2000 difference prohibited me form going for the 3G model.
However what i do do in case of need, is bluetooth link to my cell phone and voila i have 3G capabilities.
I dont live on my tablet, so for me its not a problem.

Ipad is nowehere near what these devices are, so wow I can watch stuff in 2048X1000000000. What does that help if I have to bloody convert all my HD MKV's?

I've done quite a bit of research in to tabs and such and if you are going to go with Android, it would appear that the Asus Transformer prime takes the cake here. The new models with cellular support are coming soon (if they not out yet, correct me if I'm wrong) so if you want to wait a bit I think that's a good option.

A lot of the new tabs that will be coming out now have had their screens bumped up, we will be seeing a lot more Android tablets with full HD screens coming out now but then again the Transformer Prime already has one.

The next piece is on the iPad. Use it, don't use it.

Regarding the drawbacks of the iPad and its media support, it all depends on how you want to use your device. If you are mainly going to be watching your content around the house then you never have to touch iTunes. I use Plex and its probably the best thing on my iPad because I can stream all my media straight from my NAS, even in full 1080p (which btw looks epic on the display). You can also install apps like iMediaShare which has DLNA support which basically does the same thing, but it's not a robust as a Plex solution.

If you want media on the go, then you most likely better off by jailbreaking and installing XBMC. There you can have everything in one place and it plays any format you throw at it. I am using the nightly builds at the moment and 1080p is not fully supported yet (downscales to 720p), but I'm sure they will get there soon enough.

I have the new iPad and an Android device (Galaxy S2) and both have their pros and cons, but one thing I do love about iOS is the app store. There are just a magnitude more tablet-optimized apps for iOS than there are for Android. Now I just wish I could get Chrome for iPad :( One thing better in the Play Store is the ability to install apps from the browser straight to the device, this rocks face.

My 2c.

Nothing out there beats an Android tablet running an ICS rom. I hardly used my SGT10.1 until I loaded AOKP on it. Now it is all I use. My iPad 2 feels ancient in comparison.

There are media players for the iPad that enable you to play pretty much anything, just putting that out there. The new display is too good to be described too, and you can always jailbreak it if you really feel you need to but I never felt it necessary.

If you are set on anything but the iPad however; wait till what MS have to say on Monday, from what I know it is going to be a tablet announcement. Google also supposedly have an Nexus Tab by Asus in the works for release soon, Samsung will have a new Galaxy Tab tied to the S3 in a month or two as well. You have tons of options. I suggest a pro vs cons list.

Microsoft already mentioned that Monday has nothing to do with them, Nokia is gonna make some announcement re Pureview.

Ipad is ok for games and so, well thats what I use mine for.

It does suck for the rest. but thats only my view. I guess if it could connect to USB drives/memory sticks/PS3 Controllers/Wiles keyboards and mice/USB Camera's controle and so on I would think otherwise but yeah that is just my personal view.

/me looks at tablet that is still pluged into the TV via HDMI + Microsoft Wireless keyboard thats on the table.

My bad, guess I havent checked up since the rumor started. iPad has more games than Android if I'm not mistaken. Also it can connect to most things, and I can't think of much reason to put a USB in it but most higher end cameras can connect directly to it via the Apple dock and occasionally an adapter of some sort.

You mean like enabling Airplay and watching the content on your iPad wirelessly on your TV while you still use it, or by connecting it via the adapter and using your bluetooth keyboard? There isn't much you can do on an Android that you can't do on iOS. Especially if you buy into the ecosystem, then life is incredibly painless. I know someone who has iTV, a few macs, an iPad and up until recently an iPhone and when he is at home he can simply download anything he wants on any mac and watch it straight through the iTV, any music on his iPad/iPhone can play through his surround system wherever he is in the house. It all just works

3.2 meg camera  The other have 8

Just as a matter of interest, why is the camera resolution so important to you on a tablet? A tablet is rather awkward to use as a camera (and you really don't want to sound like someoneX :))

It is not important at all however if I have 2 devices one is 3.2 and the other is 8, I would take the 8 as the rest of the machine is pretty similar

Hmmm, but then there are tabs that play pretty much any format natively without downloading an app. Each to their own i suppose, but for me, i dont want to be told what i can and cannot do.

But they are paid for apps and / or cannot play 1080p MKV.

I don't have the app store infront of me but it sounds like you would land up jailbreaking anyway, I am sure that most can play full hd MKV's and even if free ones can't are you seriously not willing to shell out R8-R16 for something that can?
