I have a normal xbox with 28 games, but no tv to play it on.

The only tv we have in our house was salvaged from the titanic when it went down, so it doesnt have a remote or AV. I've tried one of those lame converters, but dont waste your money :/

I was shopping around and i noticed they have Samsung 74cm flatscreen CRT tvs going for R2k. The Logik's are going for R1800.

Now the 35" LCD tv's are going for around R5k , which -if my math doesn't fail me is alot more than R2k - but it IS an LCD and ALOT big!

If i get the CRT, i will have to put it in the lounge and play there, but then my parents will be able to use it (not sure if that counts as a pro or a con) - whereas if i get the LCD, i can play in my room because i can use that same LCD tv as a computer screen. *& they have blueray ports or summing summing & hdtv on them - i forget*

Finally, how are the LCD TV's for gaming & as a PC screen ... is it ok or not really grand quality ?

It's not entirely about budget ...

There's a big difference in price between a normal tv and an LCD ... i'm just wondering if it's worth getting a big expensive LCD tv that i can play my xbox on when there is a chance that i wont be able to use it as a nice computer screen. Rather than getting a normal 74cm tv for the xbox and a seperate LCD monitor for the pc ?

Well atm we have a 32 inch LCD TV. I've played on it with my xbox and my pc and generally the quality is very good. Make sure its HD ready (even if it just is 720p) it should still be good as a pc monitor as well.

Voicy has 2x 17" CRT monitors atm, he also need something he can play his xbox1 on.
The thing is, he can either buy himself a basic tv and a decent 19" LCD for his pc or if it works out, buy a +-30" LCD to use as a tv(tuner not required) *and* as a pc monitor.
Will a LCD tv be okay as a pc monitor?

Thanks for the input guys ... but Rocket-Boy has it right ...

which would be better ?

74cm for the xbox + 19/22" for the pc or one big 32/35" lcd that is a TV AND a pc monitor ?

@ the WarGeeks ... i need as much input as possible guys. I still love you though (in a heterosexual non-making-eye-contact kind of way)

As much as anything you need to make sure that you're going to be getting a high enough resolution if you want to use a LCD tv as a monitor for any length of time.

It's going to be a bit of a schlep carting the LCD to and from your PC/TV room.

Practically I'd get the CRT for the XBox/family and a smaller LCD for your PC.

You can pick up a decent LG Flatron "slim-design" CRT for about R2000. Then throw in a Samsung 22" wide screen for the PC, which you could even use for the XBox if you wanted. Total cost about R4500.

Sounds like a solution! Thanks dude. I'll have a look into which 22-24" widescreens are good. Alot of okes are going for that black samsung now.

Ye i wouldnt cart it around ... screens dont like being rattled. Dry joints FTL! :(

i saw a samsung flatron thingum going for R2k at game. Should be resonable. The samsung 22" looks nice as i said, just not sure if it has RCA Audio/video inputs for my xbox(1-not 360).
