Which version

Hi, I have a old window xp laptop, not online. Install the latest java and Firefox on it, it did complain that a version might notwwork. I need the laptop to communicate with apparatus. Which version java and Firefox were reliable and where to get it. Java 6 is the minimum I want.

Reinstall? Seriously it'll make it better.

Edit: By reinstall I mean put windows 8.1 or even 10 on it. That way you can just use the latest browser/flash/java/other easily.

For Java the latest version should still work: https://www.java.com/en/download/faq/winxp.xml
The latest version of Firefox should also still work: http://www.neowin.net/news/mozilla-...ws-xp-after-microsoft-ends-support-for-the-os but not 100% sure on that.
