Which way to go?! Telkom is useless!! Viable wireless alternatives?

After enjoying stable 10mbs ADSL speed for more than a year in our area, we officially have no further use for Telkom. Our ADSL drops frequently (1-3mb connection on a 10mb line), and the line is so noisy that phone calls are pointless.

We've replaced modems/routers, adsl filters, ISPs and even landline phones... nothing works. Numerous Telkom faults reported (lately after waiting 1-2 hours on the phone to report it), then the fault reports are just closed with no solution, feedback, result or explanation. One Telkom techie just told us that there's too much line degradation.

Any reliable wireless alternatives? We use about 400GB a month and need at least 6MBS at no more than R1400pm total cost. Looking at Neotel Wireless, but word is that it's useless for gaming.

Living in Kuils River, Western Cape (Yes, I know, that's part of the problem!!)

if your line drops I suspect any ISP will be terrible as well. Seems a line issue and not ISP. Faulty infrastructure???

Have you tried another modem - could be modem problem

Tried new modems, isps, filters, phones... Everything. Telkom just says it's old lines, which is why we're looking at wireless alternatives.

My connection was down for over an hour last night - router reckons it's connected, but the ADSL light is red. Tried calling Telkom, but no-one was home, apparently - it's impossible to even log a call whenever I have a problem.

This has happened frequently over the past few weeks, and also thinking of making a move.

You have to complain or fault report on social media or the Telkom app to get any action going from Telkom.

That was an authentication problem. There are a few threads about it.

Lol, ok, I officially got way more comments on Telkom's comment than actual suggestions or solutions to my problem :) Does anybody actually know of good, reliable wireless solutions in CT for medium/high speed/usage requirements? Neotel is looking more and more like an option, gaming latency aside.

Oh ****...thought i was still drunk....:wtf:

Telkom is here:D

Lol, great, another comment like this... but at least you're keeping the thread alive. Maybe someone will actually suggest a viable alternative at some point! No comments on Neotel?

Stretch your budget by R100 and you get 10Mbps. Think in Terms of conditions for each hour you max you get half throughput the next hour. So you will get at least 5Mbps constant.
That is without install costs though, but good luck.

Ah, if it's a regular thing then not the issue I mentioned. That only happened on Thursday.
