Hi

I dont have a fixed telkom line, and dont really want one to be quite honest.

I've been looking at various wireless options, but im so confused as which one is the better option?

I stay in Sea Point, Cape Town, and all I need it for is the occasional download and some emails etc.

Please could someone help me out

additional info...

oh yes worth mentioning that I would like to be able to connect this to my PC, and also be able to connect my girlfriends laptop when need be...

Thanks for any help provided

get 3g if you receive decent cellphone signal strength... Iburst will only work IF your tower isn't oversaturated, and you get full 100% signal...

else you'll be extremely frustrated with the level of support you get from Iburst... and lets not forget the consistent debiting of incorrect amount off your account each month!

The upfront cost of iBurst might put you off, so for mild use HSDPA would be fine, however check your signal first. iBurst could be a better option.

Also what size cap are you looking at? Over 2GB HSDPA is no longer competitive.

Should you go the iBurst route (with wireless Netgear WGT624V3 router) you should have good coverage as the transmission tower is located on top of the Ritz Hotel.

The tower has medium to low user connections during OH and AH (more), so the likelihood of fast access to the net is good.

Should you have line of sight of the restaurant at the top of the hotel you should receive the maximum download speed.

Hi HTC Guy,

I know a couple of people in the sea point area (round about 10 or more) that has iBurst and is very happy with the service so far. Also I found out from them that most of them signed up with a company called Broadband Express, that actually does free, no-obligation-to sign-up, signal tests at your premises.

So it will be worth giving them a call for a product demo.

Their number is 0861 113 823.

I think they will also assist you in networking too :)
