Eikona.. Don't bring no fake facts to this damnit.
I do find those lists interesting.
1. The "China Surge" (Manufacturing vs. Brand)
If you sort the Top 100 by Brand Origin, China has about 15% of the list.
If you sort by Manufacturing Location, China's share jumps to nearly 40%.
• Tesla (USA Brand): A huge portion of the Model 3 and Model Y units sold globally (especially in Europe and Asia) are manufactured at Gigafactory Shanghai.
• Volkswagen (German Brand): VW sells millions of cars in China (like the Lavida or Santana). These are 100% manufactured in China through local joint ventures.
• Buick/Chevrolet (USA Brand): Many models sold globally are now designed and built by SAIC-GM in China.
2. The "North American Shift"
While Ford, GM, and Dodge are "American" brands, a massive percentage of their Top 100 volume is manufactured in Mexico and Canada.
• Pickup Trucks: While "Detroit-born," many Chevrolet Silverados and Ram Pickups are assembled in Mexican plants like Silao or Saltillo.
• Toyota & Honda: Conversely, many "Japanese" cars in the Top 100 (like the Toyota RAV4 or Honda CR-V) are actually manufactured in the USA (Ohio, Indiana, Kentucky) or Canada (Ontario) for the North American market.

Been following this thread closely & some of the "advice" given here....fork me![]()
Some of us like real world examples not just conjecture or stories from someone's brother's uncle's nephew's dog.
I have been following "Car Guy", a proper CC Car Youtuber, for ages.
Back in late August 2025 he picked up a new to him 2015 A3 1.4 TFSI S-Line Sedan, super neat from a reputable place:
1 Hour ago he posted & showed a (non clickbait) vid of said 2015 A3 with under 80k kilos on the clock that schiit the bed. DSG won't allow it to drive, shock face. Flatbed truck ensures.
Watch the vid & note the error message then take your DSG knowledge & then you know most likely answer what is wrong.
Back in 2018 I made this thread, something I witnessed:
Simple one.
What is the reliability of N47 2L Diesel engine?
Reason I ask is that I found out the engine seized on my cousin's F20 120d, the pre-f/lift (Angry Birds shape). Mostly likely 2012 MY. 135kw & 380nm. 2nd owner car.
This after the car hit 110 000km. He is not a boy racer & mentioned no warning lights or any indication it would just give up the ghost.
Car was out of Motorplan & BMW SA charged him R7k just to look at the engine.
In the end he did the maths & sold it as is for R70k. Repair cost would have been R70k I was told. New engine all inclusive would have been over...

Will not spell out the point here.
It was a 2016 Polo not a new one, the 2015 A3 was seen as a upgrade. Why would a car guy sell a Polo to buy a 10 year old Audi?
It's even worse than a BMW out of Motor plan.
Those DSG gearboxes are literally like ticking time bombs, it’s typically not a case of if but rather when.Been following this thread closely & some of the "advice" given here....fork me![]()

And will someone like Haval with a 7 year / 200 000km cover replacement of the DSG gearboxThose DSG gearboxes are literally like ticking time bombs, it’s typically not a case of if but rather when.
Nothing lasts for ever but those things often sht the bed under 100k km which is bs reliability and they can cost a mint to fix.
The VAG dealers will typically charge R50-80k to repair them
Probably next MondayWhen are you picking up the Jolion? Would love to hear your impressions are having it for a week or so
Holiday reason? Cause I got my car in 2 days at the start of DecProbably next Monday
That's a good question, does their warranty also cover the gearbox, do they also have something similar to DSG gearboxes? And will someone like Haval with a 7 year / 200 000km cover replacement of the DSG gearbox
