Hi guys

Im returning to WoW Eu from US and was just wondering which datacentre gives the best ping times?

I would assume paris but just wanna make sure before taking the leap.

Once i know which datacentre Ill then choose which server.

Im tired of the 600-800ms on US servers and want to get my selection right this time around.

Maybe give me your server name and average latency for a referance?

TIA

250 - 300 ms - On Misery Realm - Aerie Peak , in the evenings , with no proxy.

Cant carry your character over though , gotta start over with new account for EU.

95% of EU servers average ms range between 230-300ms. But since you're located in Cpt, you'll be looking at a nifty 130-250ms I guess, depending on your connection of course. I play on Blackout, Misery and Cyclone BG's and from PTA it's an average of 275ms at the most.

Paris DC's definately... There are ofc other factors that could also contribute to laggy response times, but in general, my best latencies have always been on realms hosted in the Paris DC's....

Also note the authentication servers are also based in Paris before you are routed to your realm... so it does kinda make sense.

Thanks for the feedback guys.

Yeah i realise I cant transfer...makes me sad to leave 4x 85's on US servers but the latency holds me back from doing anything worthwhile after ZA/ZG heroics and BG's.

Cant raid or arena competitively with ****ty latency.

i do have a lvl 80 shammy with a WOTLK account on EU. cant remember what server he is on but will be checking if he is on a paris DC. If not from the beginning I shall start again.

Been playing this game since Classic. ive had so many accounts and capped characters i try not to think about it as i might just /wrists.

:P

In CT the lowest latency you will find on SAT3 is 160ms, but you rarely get that while in combat, you can however expect anything from 180-230ms on even populated realms, which is what I get with a WA account on EU-Sylvanas using a private proxy that is located in London directly on most peering points there.

When you choose a realm, don't just go by which DC it is in, at least try to get a realm, with a decent economy (ie. have at least 90%+ items on the AH and decent prices), decent amount of good raiding guilds (so that you have a choice), and maybe even one with some SAFFERs on.

As mentioned, I am on EU-Sylvanas, its a decent server nowadays after 1 big guild left, but it is left with a bunch of decent guilds, raiding lots of different times and still a lot that was around 4-12/13 hc in these last few weeks before 4.2. It has Saffers on both Alliance and Horde side, but I think you will find this specific server is better on Alliance sides for various reasons, but its not too bad on Horde side either.

Best of luck finding a new home buddy, even if its not EU-Sylvanas.
